Hello all,
I recently purchased a 96 LX450 with 280k miles. It was advertised as a project with a possible head gasket issue. The PO found oil in the coolant (it looked like a haze rather than full blown mix). There did not appear to be coolant in the oil. Engine ran, but I only drove it onto my trailer and towed it to my shop. I've now gotten the head off and noticed 3 pieces of debris lodged in the head gasket. They pulled out easily and are a soft material (very spongy), and together the pieces seem to form a circle about the diameter of an oil filter. I'd compare it to weatherstripping. The rig is very stock. The only work done on it recently that I am aware of was on the oil cooler. I have not opened that up yet....or dropped the pans. Will be doing a complete disassembly.
Any one out there know what it is?
Thank you for taking a look
Zac
