Realize I haven't updated this in a bit. Haven't had anything that great to show you guys. Since Labor day we went from busy to extremely busy at work and haven't had time to do anything except squeeze in a football game or two on sunday.

But since we did just do a bit life change thought i'd throw it up there.

After 5 months of having to drive into seattle from Bonney Lake we both decided enough was enough on that commute. The drive to work would range from 75 minutes (good for this area) to 2 hours and 45 minutes (add on 15-20 more minutes for Andrea to get to work after i'm dropped off). It was really starting to drain us leaving the house at 6 every morning and not getting back till 730-8 most nights. If Andrea didn't need her car to drive to the different campuses she is over then we could just train it and it would be much much better. But we couldn't and even buying a more comfortable and reliable car for the commute and so I wasn't constantly fixing something on it didn't really help much.

So we stumbled on a small 1 bed room apartment near century link field that was deeply discounted due to the construction across the street. In the mean time we save up for down payment on house/condo when lease is up and we will be in a much better position to buy at that point anyway since i'll be switched from hourly to commision split then and be making more.

My commute to work today was 19 minutes walking. I did it in 11 last week but I jacked my knee up in the move and am hobbling around right now.

Only down side to this was I was about to start grabbing parts for 6bt swap in the burban.... but that will have to wait and its staying in Bonney Lake anyway for now.

Few pics of the building... none of our apartment yet as we aren't done setting it up yet.

Also I didn't realize that pyramid wasn't available in NC anymore and i'm about 1 block from the brewery so if anyone, @DeeRex , wants to do some horse trading for NC brews I can't get here anymore let me know.

I really need to find an ONSC type club up here to get out and do things with when I get more free time.

ONSC is still the best organization i've ever been apart of

Don't have a cruiser to really join a cruiser club right now, and I wouldn't call some of them my way LOL Spokane is 5 hours from here. ;)

I've been to a Seattle Cruiser heads meeting (which is the most active WA club despite not having a MUD presence) and they are decent, same with Northwest Overland. Neither compares to ONSC though.... I think I was spoiled..... Pretty much what everyone that has moved out of NC and away from ONSC has said those exact same words.

Real issue is my lack of time currently.

When I do eventually get another YOTA be it a cruiser or mini truck for wheeling (I think the Burb will retain expo vehicle status as well as tow rig) i'll most likely spend most of my trips in it up in BC and i'll join Coastal Cruisers.

I've always considered the PNW one of the most beautiful places in the US but the scenery up in BC is like this place on roids.

Haven't really updated this in a while. But Meatballs @custyota adventure thread made me want to update it from time to time. Been going to Seattle Cruiserheads (non mud group) meetings since I bought the 100...... last tuesday we had our end of summer BBQ.... couldn't really have asked for a better location and the collection of cruisers there was nice. Much smaller than ONSC but that is because everyone in it lives just in the Seattle metro area.

Golden Gardens Park in Seattle was the location

There is quite a few 70 series in the group but this is the one that showed up... it is for sale... also sporting a 3.4 Super charged tacoma engine and LHD. Was a 1fz one from Spain I believe that was really clapped out when it showed up.

Super Clean 4bt 60 series. The 4bt has been modified for more powa by a local diesel swap. I think Torfab did the swap initially.

And a 2.8 cummins swapped 62 by torfab, they were one of the ones chosen by cummins to be part of the repower project. They have another going into a 40 soon. I posted a picture of the engine sitting on a stand in chat a few months back.
80 mph 21MPG not broken in and they can't modify it. Its ECU sends updates back to Cummins all the time and under the agreement it has to stay stock..... for now. Tor is going to change the gears in the axles out most likely though because the RPMS are too high at 80 for his liking.

Wow - lotta cool stuff going on up there!

Wow - lotta cool stuff going on up there!

Cummins just released the engine price for the 2.8 $8999

Tor is making two kits available first for the 60/62 model.

One with all the mounts and brackets needed and another with that plus intercooler, piping and air intake

I am thinking that motor would be perfect in a 40. @lt1fire did you drive the 62 at all? I am thinking this 2.8L might be a shade light on power on a fully loaded up 60/62 series. What do you think from what you witnessed?

I didn't get to drive it this time.... line was way toooo long and I didn't have a fast pass. LOL. Tor got there kind of late and I was just about to go home to finish up some work at that point as I had already been there for 3 hours. But next time i'll get some seat time hopefully.

I do wish I had stayed longer because there was quite a plethora of 60's the guys that stayed later got to try out.

stock 2f, stock 3fe, 5.3 swap, 4bt swap and the 2.8 swap so they got a good comparo.
So from what I heard on our group forum the following day
the favorite motors were the 2.8 followed by the 5.3. Power was better than the 2f or 3fe in all faucets.
everyone liked the 2.8 better than the 4bt due to how smooth it was. Most said the ole paint shaker is something they could live with if they needed to but the 2.8 makes it obsolete all things being equal. Of course you can get a used 4bt for quite a bit less than the new 2.8 so it would come down to money for most. The fact that there will be a pretty much plug and play kit out there for the 2.8 is appealing to most of them.

All second hand info.... i've driven 4bt swapped rigs before and 5.3 swaps and 2fs and 3fs.... so i'll save my own opinion for if and when I get to give the 2.8 a go.

but with it being a 2.8 cummins I don't think getting more power from it will be a problem.

Pretty cool setup, but something I'll never run unfortunately. Can't stand the smell of diesel. On the trails, it's even worse. The wife gets physically sick when we sit at a light with diesel trucks nearby.

I love the smell of diesel in the morning

Like gas engines though smells different depending on the application

Waste oil motors smell the best...... I was driving behind a 6.5 swapped scout back when I was in California still and the guy must have exclusively used McDonald french fry oil or something.

@shellb came out for a visit this last weekend and I found the worlds coolest bar/restaurant a mile from my pad.... just opened so i'm guessing that is why I never knew of it before.

This was right behind the host station

Its a pretty cool place... you can store your car there for $200 a month... cheaper than I pay for parking at my apartment, and for $150 a month you can use the lifts that are around the corner to work on your ride.

The Bar has a members only part and a general public part.

There was an awesome Skoda parked out front also and a 458 ferrari that belonged to customers at the bar.

took to the hills for a bit this weekend

Awesome pics Al!

First snow of the season, my sister sent me the picture of my cruiser while I was up in Canada for the weekend.

The other pics and video are local guys that went up into the mountains to camp.
