Well as many of you know. I am embarking a trip to my home country Colombia, to find some some nice non-us market parts for my 80 series and a fellow mudder who has entrusted in me a search for his unicorn 40 series. He is the main reason I am embarking on this quest. Thanks for your support fellow mudder who would remain nameless. So while i am down there searching for a unicorn fj43, I am searching for some goodies for my 80. This would include a complete 5 speed manual H151f conversion, some leather seat covers and a few other goodies.

I have offered the leather kits for an 80 in the for sale section of MUD and I have had great interest. There is a void in this forum currently for quality leather kits and I plan to fill it. So in effort to make sure I can provide an excellent product with great pricing, I have shipped my 80 to Colombia (at Seaboard Marine as I type this) this is in efforts to remove any doubts with quality and fitment. My rig will be the mud guinea pig at the leather factory in Colombia. They have done many 80's before but I just wanted to make sure there werent any surprises.

So for all those interested stay tuned i will be using this thread to provide updates and of course pictures of my journey.

First update!! Dropped off at Port Miami she embarks this Friday towards Cartagena Colombia.

Looking forward to the updates. Nice looking rig.

Wow, nothing like getting it done already... Swift action. Looking forward to pics of the journey. Too bad you didn't put a gopro on the dash that you could record 24/7 to a laptop. It would be interesting to watch the trip, AND see if anyone goes for a ride :)

I'll be watching this thread closely. I'm very interested in a leather kit but want to make sure all is well with it. Thanks for being the mud guinea pig!!
Way too early to ask this but, do you have a date for a return trip?

I wish I could do the same, or have a live IP feed where I can see my dash cam.. I thought about it. Just didnt have enough time to set anything up!

Thats pretty awesome. Especially if you document the trip.

Don't forget pics of food porn.

I will definitely post up pics of food!

Thanks guys for all your support!! Mud is an awesome community and this wouldn't be possible with you guys! Thanks again.. Next update will be in a week when I pick up my baby in Cartagena... !! It will be a dream come true for me atleast to drive her in Colombia... Cant Wait!!

@LOOKman My return flight to the US is on June 18...

Everything is finally set for my 80 to embark on her voyage. After some issues with the measurements of my rig and my original shipping quote going up an extra $500 bucks (all because of my rear tire and Jerry can basket) and Customs putting a hold on the beast for an inspection she has the green light to go forward!! She will be loaded up tomorrow then its 4 day boat ride to Cartagena Colombia!

Other than just normal due process, I would have to say shipping out of the US was truly simple.

Here are some pictures I received from Seaboard evidencing why my rig is longer than I had measured first. 17.5ft x 6.5ft x 7ft. that extra foot on the jerry can cost me $500 more bills... Ouch!! Too bad I couldnt remove it.

Yeah your looking at 300 for one seat

Frank, I would have found a way to remove that if it was going to run me an extra $500. You're a lot nicer than I am ;)

I would have but I was on a time constraint and I needed to get it done.. Oh well you win some you lose some.. Important thing is my rig will be getting some nice needed TLC when she is down there.

In the mean time. Look what arrived. Colombia is a mountainous country. So the auto with 35's and two lane curvy roads up a mountain while overtaking an 18 wheeler wont be too fun with stock gears. So I ordered 4.88 gears from Nitro via Amazon prime!!! Cheaper than buying from JD directly. This should be a nice combo when the H151f is installed. Gonna get this installed first thing.. Labor is cheap so install should cost me around $100 bucks US.
