Well, finally settled on a way to "securely" store gear in the back of the cruiser. I make no pretenses that its Fort Knox, but it'll be good enough for storage of some of the basics when I'm on the trail. Picked up a sturdy storage box from Home Depot for a whopping 30 dollars. Drilled 8 holes into the floor, used strip steel on the inside and grade 8 bolts and washers. Nuts will be tack-welded to prevent removal from the underside of the rig. It has spots for two pad locks, though a determined thief could cut the top off with a Sawzall easy enough. My main goal was to make sure it was securely mounted so that it wouldn't rip loose during a potential rollover.
