My new 04 - Question on the side curtain air bags

I have a newly acquired 04 that had both of the side curtain airbags blow out and did crinkle the headliner, but I "think" it can be saved.

03 - Side and curtain shield airbags were adopted as optional equipment I am not replacing these due to the $1800 a side price tag which is ridiculous. Yes I will take my chances not having them like I have for the last 25 years of my life driving without them in every other vehicle I have owned.

My question = Can I just remove what is left of them and reuse my headliner or is the headliner specific to these (where it needs to fit properly)? Would a headliner from a 02 or older without the side curtain "bolt" in place provided it had the provisions for the rear climate stuff?

03 - Fuel cutoff switch when airbags are deployed was added This does not appear to be true as mine starts runs and drives, but the key is my steering wheel and pass side did not deploy.

My Question = Does the side curtain ones ever affect this cutoff switch???
My Question = Air bag light is on due to the side curtain, is there a way to trick the computer out thinking they are there so the light goes off, or do I have to just live with the light being on (or remove the bulb).

I should note, This vehicle will be my daily driver until it either rusts away or gets wrecked to where it cannot be fixed. This isn't something I am looking to fix up and sell.

I can't say for sure on Cruisers, but most vehicles that have a fuel cut off switch also have the ability to enable the veh to drive again. My guess would be that the fuel cut off switch activated with the crash, but then to move/drive it later the cut off switch was reset. Once reset it would take another accident to set it off not a general fault of an airbag having been deployed in the past.

Theoretically to get the light to go off you would place the proper amount of resistance in the circuit and the light would go out. Perhaps in the FSM there are specs as to where one could jump the correct pins to be like the units that came without the SCA.

Of coarse this is all speculation on my part... maybe someone will have some real information for you.
