Don't get jealous but I just got on a hunting lease, 6000 acres, with 8 guns (2 live hundreds of miles away ;) ; 75 percent is IN Palo Duro Canyon (second largest canyon in USA). Not near any highway. Species: TONS of mule deer, whitetail, Rio Grande turkey, Audad Sheep, wild hogs, quail, dove, coyotes, bobcats. And a field full of prarie dogs as a bonus. 1 hr from my house. Heavy cover. Very rough trails requiring 4 wheel drive; the 60 WALKED across a washed out riverbed where a new 3/4 ton Dodge 4wd failed. Also a beautiful place to camp, 4 wheel, and picnic. But DO NOT be jealous. :grinpimp:

Oh, and only because I have no idea, what's a hunting lease usually cost? I'm not digging for specifics on yours, just in general?

In CA and most of the other western states we still have good public land to hunt and don't need to buy into a hunting lease.

    Texas is weird.

But hey, looks great and happy hunting.

    I'm just jealous:flipoff2:

Good for you Doc. I wheeled Palo Duro years ago and it is a nice place!

You should consider yourself very blessed, IMHO.

Oh, and those P-dogs dance real well when they hook up with a 40gr Ballistic Tip going 3500 fps :grinpimp:

How much does a hunting lease for 6000 acres cost out there, around here it would break the bank if you could find that much land...

NICE!!! Great score, enjoy!! Up here it's very expensive to lease, and not worth it with the amount of public land available to hunt. Also, I have developed an extensive array of friendships with property owners who will allow a limited few to hunt on their properties.

I hunted hogs about 80 miles west of Lubbock on pvt land.........friends of my grandfather's. Choked with mesquite, lots of sand, very limited water........basically hell, but fun nonethe less.

    Want to swap hunts?

Dang, and I am in Lubbock too, thats going to be a pretty pricey lease with that kind of wildlife and that many acres, too bad I'm in college and can't afford that right now, probably for the better though, wouldn't be spending much time in school if I had a place like that, if you know what I mean.
