Decided to post my build here post completion. A big thanks to this forum, tons of info and knowledge here! This build is really not too much different from what you’ve already seen except for my choice of engine/trans. I completed most of the work myself at home in my garage. Majority of 79 series parts are new/oem so things like steering column and dash had to be bought piece by piece and put together. Been working on it for the last year and half. I decided to use a 2uz/auto a343f (100 series),mainly since it’s a common engine here in the US and parts are plentiful. Still wrapping up a few things, need a stereo and speakers (ordered), center console needs to be made, needs some protection underneath, and I plan to build a rear bumper. It will be similar to the stock tube bumper just not flimsy. Other than that I don’t plan to do too much else to it, it’ll probably stay the way it looks, I really love the way these trucks look in stock form with some 255’s, I might add an Arb on down the road and maybe manual hubs.

Awesome rig. Well done!

Well look at that! HOT!

Maybe I missed it in the initial post but where the did the 6 lug steelies come from?

Beautiful build. They look so good in stock form.

If you're looking for speaker pods for the doors, we're going to be bringing in a shipment....would be happy to put your name on a set. They work very well in these trucks :)

Thanks! I definitely like the look of those, looks factory. I’ve got some JL’s coming for the stock location. I typically keep my audio simple so I’ll see how those do. Will definitely consider them if I want to add to my current setup.

It’s there but since you asked, 1st gen Tacoma steelies 16x7

Thanks. They are definitely first gen based off the hole design. Sorry I missed it earlier, reading posts on the phone does that for me sometimes.

And some say there are no interesting 70 Series builds on ‘MUD anymore. 😊

Are you running a OEM power antenna? Which dash wiring harness are you running?
