So today when i tried to back up from my parking and shifted it into reverse the car would not even budge. Had to put in neutral and push the car back. Then i noticed while driving that it would not shift to sesond. Drove for about 2 kms like that but i did not push it . I was getting on to highway so i pushed it to about 4k and then it shifted and after that i did not any problems. Once i reached my workplace i shifted to reverse to park it and it s***ed with out any problems. Later on in the evening i put to reverse and again it would not shift.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

It is a 2000 Model 4.5 ltr..

I'd be doing one of the following:

Hunting down the appropriate FSM to troubleshoot the issue.
Just as an example this manual:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/attachments/a442f-testing-and-adjustments-pdf.1420894/
is for the A442F, which you probably do not have.

Or

Trying to find a reputable transmission shop in your area (sometimes it seems the words "reputable" and "transmission shop" don't go together very well)

I might add:
Stop driving it until you get it diagnosed and repaired.

Time to get a manual transmission. In your area, I am sure you can easily locate a 5 speed transmission.

No reverse means low on fluid or clogged filter.
No upshift means low on fluid or clogged filter.
Working reverse but no upshift means solenoid or clutch issue.
