So my boy snapped the blinker arm off the steering column. Now I have full time brights and now blinkers. I could probable live with this except i have hi output H4 bulbs. I've tried to manually switch to low beam and then don't get lights at all.
I do have an extra steering column from an '81 which won't bolt up directly but can you take the blinker, ignition off and swap out? I took all the bolts out connecting the assy to the column and it's didnt wanna budge. Befor I F- anything up I thought I'd refer to the "Club".

Are the columns keyed the same at the end where they connect to the firewall weldment?? if that's the case I could just slide the '81 into place right?? Who can shed some light on this for me before I blind anyone or get pulled over. Thanks

you could find the wiring diagram for your rig and disconnect the hi beam wire at the harness under the column to get back to lo beams for now. check with Toyota regarding availability of your turn signal switch. I got a brand spanking new OEM switch for my 77 fj55 a couple years ago...

can't speak as to swappability of the later switch...might check toyodiy for PN changes...

You can easily find parts here on MUD, place an wanted parts ad here https://forum.ih8mud.com/forums/wanted-parts.13/

Thanks Ya'll. I first want to figure out if the parts i have are compatible. Looks like from above that they are the same PN so I guess I just need to convince it to come off the 81 columb.

Call @beno instead he'll give you the best price, 25% off MSRP.
His name is Onyr parts manager at:

i have a brand new one listed for $75 + ship (from ABQ). But after taking the steering wheel off, the old switch should come off easily after removing 3 screws...

When the neighbor's kid broke mine I unscrewed the broken piece out and brazed it back together and screwed it back in. I had to put shrink tubing on it to look decent but it was about ten years ago...(1974 FJ40)

think I am going on 15 years on this fabulous mod(random chunk of hose) on my 45LPB.....works great, almost prefer it to OEM
