Hey everyone my name is Mike and I'm a new found cruiser lover! This is my first post on the site and a little bit of an intro. I am the third owner of my 2000 Toyota truck. My Mother bought it used at 20k miles back in 2002 and it was the family truck until recently when I had the fortune of receiving it when my mom got a new car. It currently has just over 160,XXX miles and is still going strong (100% completely stock). The trucks name is Lucille and I am loving her more every day!

It is used on road 95% of the time and the most its been off road is on dirt paths to some of my fishing spots. It was always our go to snow vehicle as we could plow through 18"+ of snow without issue and here in PA that is certainly useful. I plan to start "wheeling" a little more and plan to begin the build of my truck in the near future.

Since I only started calling it mine recently, I have alot to learn about these vehicles and I have already gained a wealth of knowledge from just reading this forum. I am confident that my truck will go for the long haul as my parents were meticulous with maintenance and I truly feel lucky to be able to own such a fine piece of machinery.

Thank you guys for sharing your knowledge and the next issue I have this is the first place I will come!

Now for some pics:

Welcome to MUD! It's a great community here with tons of helpful members.

Allow me to be the first to give you the MUD salute!

:flipoff2:

Congrats and enjoy your Cruiser. Be warned, Cruisers have been shown by the surgeon general to be addictive.

:D

Thanks for the warm welcome CappyKD

Welcome to the forum 2000 LC. The good news is you know most of the history of your hundy and now own the best 4wd ever made! Even better that it was passed on to you by your mother. I have passed on my first '99 LC to my pops and he continues to enjoy it with over 375k miles on it. Your future build will cost a bit, but the MUD forum will save you a lot of money and provide good advice.

thanks

Thanks bonze, and wow 375k miles that is amazing. I think its going to take some getting used to for me to realize my truck is actually low mileage for a LC!

Congrats and welcome!! 160K is really low. I bought mine with 138K and now have close to 180. It amazes me every time I get in it and drive it how solid it feels. They are very well built!! Enjoy it.

Welcome to the club! I'm not the newest anymore lol... I just bought mine recently with just shy of 139k. Yesterday I snapped a pic of it hitting 140k! Could not be happier with how solid these things really are and it's always a pleasure to be in the car now :)

Welcome to you and Lucille 2000.

What are your plans for Lucille?

Post some pics and let us know.

:D

not sure

Thanks guys, and honestly I have no idea what my plans are for her at this point haha right now I think I am most concerned with making sure I'm doing everything I possibly can to keep this truck running as strong as possible for as long as possible before I start building her up.

One question I do have is this: The truck has been using conventional oil for its entire life and I am wondering would it be wise to make a switch to a synthetic like Mobil 1 for example?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Welcome... I am a new owner of a 2000 LC as well and mine has only 105,000 miles!

Of course that means my transmission will probably fail any moment now, but that's another story. ;)

Haha I've heard all the buzz about the 2000 transmissions and its pretty scary but I think we'll be alright.

Hopefully if there was something wrong with ours they would have failed a long time ago!

Welcome and congrats! I bought my parents 2000 LC last year with 219,000 and have 236,000 now. No worries on keeping your 2000 running for many more miles! The first thing I've done to every used car I've bought in the last 20 years is put Castrol Syntec full synthetic in. Didn't matter if it had 40,000 miles or 140,000 miles so I wouldn't worry about that.
