TacDoc - I think I'm going to order the same winch/battery panel from 12voltguy, but I'm undecided on whether to go with the toggle or button winch controls. How are you liking the toggle? Seems like it might be easier to use the buttons, but I prefer the cleaner look of the toggle.

Guess I went with the toggle switch for the clean look as well. I have used this switch once or twice just to test it works properly, but not for real winching. I think I may be a bit more precise with the toggle compared to the push button, but maybe its just me.

Have an update. Not a modification, but a preventive maintenance update ;)

So in PR we have no salt in the roads during the Winter... in fact we have NO Winter at all... but we have plenty of beaches and beach trails around the 100x35 Island.

This is my technique to rust prevention: 50/50 mixture of ATF and Diesel.

In my case is a 3 day job.

Day 1. Remove under armor. Pressure wash the underside and let it dry overnight.

Day 2. Jack up the truck and place it in jack stands. Spray the underside with the mixture and let it drip overnight.

Day 3. Rag dry the excess mixture and pressure wash the mess in the garage...

Some pics from Day 3.

Had to fabricate new sway bar links. Somehow I managed to crush the driver side one. Refreshed the sway bar with new axle bushings as well.

Look what a nice little detail I found at the chassis...

That detail gets checked every year overhere and yesterday the technical road licence guy looked at the thick layer of grease I put in/on/over the number and he said "I remember this from last year" :D
I got a new year road licence so no :wrench::wrench: needed:beer:
But my LC lookes so heavy used and abused compared to yours and others on this site wow! :hhmm:

I agree. I saved some pictures for reference for when I make some more modifications to mine. :)

Hahahaha me too, I saved some yesterday to look at as I install my IM lift this weekend.

OK, got that.

How do I remove the cealing panel?

Did you ever find that out and take care of the rust from the back side?

Thanks!

15' Choker Chain. 1 slide hook and 2 lock hooks (just in case I dont want to crush the offending object). This is pretty usefull to winch fallen trees out of the way.

Got a pair of these steel toe rubber boots at my local safety shoe store.

I use a beach towel as winch line damper :hillbilly:

Im also considering a winch line extension, but dont know if it will be really needed. Please advise.

Anything else Im missing?

As always, your help and comments are much appreciated.

I did skip the hole using the right side of the road.

In fact this was stupidity at its best...

A few yards ahead the trail was blocked with a mud slide. I was alone (just 1 vehicle) and was running short of time to make a 3hr ride back to my home. So I decided it was time to return. When I was backing in reverse looking for a good place to turn I got trapped in this mud hole.

The only damage to the vehicle was a blown reverse light bulb due to the fact the rear light fixture and the side marker light got drownwed in water for a while. Easily fixed with less than a $1.00 :)
