Love to see the Blackstone report when you get it...

That's an amazing service record, and the reason you've got 330K + miles. Cheers!

I did one before but it was kinda meh. I had been driving with the valve cleaner vent completely off. The motor was open after I did my BJ60 intake because I couldn’t get a rubber 90 that fit right

I also expect that the last carb had been leaking from the accelerator pump.

I’m hoping that this 30k check up is better.

Fancy drain plug, too... :)

gotta class it up once I did the h55f swap and put a new pan on. They don’t even include a plug with the new oem pan!

m12 autozone special!

Is that Zinc/Phos level with the M1 15w50? or the VR 1 ? Those levels are outstanding for depleted oil. If it's the VR 1 I'd be really really curious to see what those levels are now with the M1 50wt.

Numbers look very good for a high-mileage engine. As their analysis says, Silicon certainly you can attribute to the leaky intake.

Thanks!

Those are with the VR1. This upcoming analysis will be my first with the M1 15w50. I also followed their instructions more closely this time and got the sample after about 30 seconds of oil flow from the drain plug.

2F hasn't disappointed, and it's longevity has just become a race to put more miles on it for bragging rights.

I'll be driving it to Los Angeles in June for 3 weeks of work, I'll buy you a beer.

Meet up with @mattressking He can show you some trails and brewery’s.

I head out on Friday for solid axle summit.

I had a short list:

install cargo tracks at the front and back of the cargo area. Super easy. no more stuff flying everywhere on the trail.

add a heat shield to the air compressor and add an air tank to aide in airing up tires without running the compressor at full duty cycle.

tighten up belts and fluids.

change the t case and trans fluid to a fresh batch of mobil 1 50 sae. It’s been 35,000 since I added the rebuilt split case and h55f

grease the shackles

add wiring for the fridge all the way to the rear. Still running my single battery but it will have plenty of time to keep things charged up

Otherwise, the 60 is ready to go.

I like that you have that many tire trail spares. 😉

Made it back from solid axle summit with zero issues. This was a good trip.

I need to sort my tool situation and bring more Milwaukee cordless stuff. That’s all I really overpacked and didn’t have easy access to

Things I’ve learned-

-Carry a correct 2F clocked 10 o clock alternator with you. Nobody has them.

-Optima batteries suck. My 3 year old red top died but they warrantied it for a yellow top with some persuasion.

-the iceco fridge was awesome. Once I got it set right I forgot it was there. I even brought food home.

-the 2F gets bad or good mileage based on which way the wind blows. 12-17 mpg. It doesn’t like head winds.

-I didn’t touch the carb, but I did tee the advance pods together above 4,000 ft. Below 4,000 it couldn’t use the advance and would ping part throttle.

-the hood went up one time to check oil and that was it. The only casualty was the oil pressure gauge sending unit wire. I’ll patch that up soon.

-the rear 62 sway bar may be the best mod ever to the truck. Going through 550 to Ouray was so flat and stable, then I popped two bolts off and ratchet strapped it back to the bumper when I did Poughkeepsie. The ome and bilstein suspension is great.

-it’s time for sliders and a locker. The truck didn’t back off anything. It just took speed and I’m lucky I didn’t dent the rust.

-the aircraft tracks didn’t budge at all. They held the fridge and supplies down perfectly. Nothing flopped into the seating area.

@js0k was an awesome travel buddy and a great wrench. 10/10 would do dumb stuff with again. If you haven’t followed him yet, you should. He’s living the dream.

Oh, and it rolled 335,000 miles doing this trip.

If you’re not breaking stuff, what are you doing? It will be fixed, but the huge rock on Poughkeepsie won that battle.

A few small updates.

-My $15 catch can works. It's got a bit of oil in it. Score.
IMG_3459.JPG

-I swapped to a set of Japanse clear tail light lenses out of boredom.

IMG_3339.jpg

-I was given a great deal on an ARB Air Locker to go with my 4.11 gears in the 80 axle project.

IMG_3452.JPG

-I finally fixed my vacuum cap door lock fix. I broke it after leaning on the door panel attempting to slide backwards down an icy shelf. Terrifying reminded why a good spotter can save your life.

Small victories. 336,000 miles and counting.

No news is good news. Zero noises or issues right now. Almost to 340,000 miles. The catch can is working nicely and the truck is getting used daily.

With the limited time I do have, 62 is getting a lot of love and the 40 is itching to be messed with. The new year will be good.

The filter and paint cup stuff is doing great. It’s helping me stay busy.

Just finished reading your entire thread, nice work! Thanks for all of the info and entertainment.

I’m flattered. Thank you!

It’s not done, just done for now. It’s so turn key and good that is almost boring. Almost.

It got valet’d and parked up front today. That felt pretty good!

Small update:

The 255/85r16 KM3 tires rock. I've got about 20,000 miles on them since August 2020 and they're wearing evenly and only getting a little louder. They did great in the snow, mud and worked great at 15psi when I was wheeling the last two seasons. I was very jaded by the K02 cracking issue I had, but these make up for it. I just had them rotated and balanced for the 3rd time at 4wheel parts. No issues.

I strongly suggest balancing these big little small tires every rotation. 4wp warranty is great and they give a good break on the labor and parts.

Still haven't rotated the spare in, but it's working out well. I would strongly suggest them to anyone wanting a tall and skinny tire, as they are very likely the most civilized tire in that size.

It's almost time to check the valves again, and I'll likely put on a dual stage oil filter like I did on the 3FE in the 62. Currently at a hair under 340,000 miles.
