I need to sell my (project!) 1986 Land Cruiser. It’s lived in 3 garages over 3 moves and I suppose it’s time to sell her as a project. Asking $4400 obo.
It started up and drove to its current home but will not start now. I think it really needs a carb rebuild. I’ve owned it for close to 15 years and it’s never been done. I’m going to try and be as clear and transparent as possible here. It’s a project but not something super far gone. Many on this forum could have her back on the road/trail in a few days. Unfortunately I am not one of those people!
Recent work:
Not much!
New battery a couple months ago
Replaced alternator with a used one
Water pump and belts replaced less than 10k ago
I bought the axles off of a rolled SOA truck about 6 years ago and swapped them under the truck and added a shackle reversal.
Rebuilt by OTRAMM 4.10 diff in the rear
Rebuilt by OTRAMM 4.10 diff ready to be swapped out in the front (current front is 4.10 as well)
New 555 tie rod ends for a high steer setup. They don’t seem to thread well though. Maybe the arms aren’t 4x4 labs like I thought?
33x12.5r15 tires have lots of wear left on them but are probably 7 years old
Nice custom bumpers front and rear.
Negatives:
Has had a small oil leak for years. I believe it’s the side cover gasket. It appears a couple of the bolt heads are stripped off. It’s never leaked too bad
One of the brake hard lines stripped a bit when the axle housing got swapped on the front. It leaks.
The drivers front tire seems to lean in a bit. Overall, it probably needs a front axle rebuild and a different shackle reversal welded on to get the geometry back to where it was on the truck I sourced the parts from. That’ll also lower down the front a good bit.
Front driveshaft not installed. Needs the crossment notched or may be not after the front axle gets set up correctly
Drivers window mechanism needs to be fixed.
Some rust, trail damage and clear coat failure but not terrible!
Dash has some cracks and driver seat has the usual tear
Rear hatch was replaced and is a different color.
Includes some other parts I’ve accumulated
I bought another vehicle and it should get here in about 10 days. It needs to live in the garage for the winter so the 60 needs a new home.
If my price is way off, feel free to flame me and make an offer. I do have one possibly interested party but nothing has happened yet! Need more pics, let me know.
