Hi! I just bought my first Land Cruiser and I hope it turns out to be the solid ride I've heard they are. It's a 96 Black/Tan beast with chrome door handles and side view mirrors, with factory lockers and 94k miles. I sold my Tahoe to get it. The Tahoe was a huge mistake - extremely costly and quite frequent repairs. During a trip to the lake this summer, it left me and a bunch of friends stranded and it was then that the decision was made to sell it. Apparently the slogan "Like a rock" is a little too true - it's about as worthless as a rock when it comes to getting you home. This is a nice site and I'm looking forward to learning about my new LC.

Welcome Nic

Nice rig. I like black LC's. Very rare. Ask C&#039:Dan about it. He likes black LC's too :D

Here you will find all the advice you need. You will put a lot of mods on your rig and she will give you a lot of fun.

Congrats

too right! I'll have to file that one under "First Mods"

Congrats! And it looks like you have a buddy or something with a white one too!

Nic,
Who owns the white one and are you an Aggie?
-B-

The white one belongs to my roommate - he's the one who initially turned my head towards Toyota. It's a 93. I helped him work on it a few times and was impressed by how well built (over-built maybe) the components were. I remember once comparing his front rotors to those on my Tahoe and being astounded by the difference in size and weight.

You can see by the Texas hitch cover that no, I'm not an Aggie. Still, though, I feel for your loss against OU this weekend. I'm sorry to say I know exactly how you feel.

moralien, I'm in Austin.

Anyone else from this area that can recommend a good repair shop? I have a couple of things I need to get taken care of right away: transmission fluid exchange, front diff service because I have a leaking front axle seal, and valve adjustments. From what I can tell on this board, a synthetic Redline or Mobile 1 exchange without power flush or detergents is the way to go for the transmission. The other stuff I'll get done this week too, just not sure where. There's a shop called "Land Cruiser Specialists" in the phone book, I think I'll start there.

That's Edwin's shop. (lcs) He's a hella good dude and a LSLC member to boot. He won't steer you wrong. Tell him Nick from LSLC Houston sent ya. He know's his way around cruiser's fo sho.
