Well it was bound to happen....my first damage to the 200 Series LC!!!

I was out with my brother-in-law and we decided to go have some fun with some larger boulders that were around.

It was at night.....my first mistake!

The boulders were about 3-4 feet high and I thought it would be fun to try and go over or at least on top of them.

Well.....we went up one, and when I tried to re-position myself, I rolled off and too far back.....into a large boulder behind me.

I shut off the parking sensors, because they were going nuts, for obvious reasons.

Second mistake.....no spotter!

Well the rear right side of the bumper got crushed in, and the light housing that is on the right rear quarter panel was smashed!

Here are some pics.

Well we spent about 30 min popping out the bumper and it looked MUCH better afterwards.

Here are the next day pics:

Well the light housing is $265!!!! :crybaby::crybaby:

Forget the bumper....it has a few scratches and I am not worried about it.

Actually if SLEE would make me a new rear bumper, the damage would be alot less!! :bang:

I ordered the housing today, and it is simple to replace.

The wife still has not noticed it yet , so I am safe for now :p

So the lessons are:

1) Wheeling at night where you don't know your way around = DUMB

2) Not having a spotter on the same trip mentioned in #1 = EVEN MORE DUMB

3)Banging up a new $72k Land Cruiser and laughing about it = PRICELESS!

Let the wife take it on a shopping trip. When she gets back point to the damage and say WTF!!!

This way you will get funding approved for a Slee rear bumper so much quicker and easier :grinpimp:

Awesome.

Congrats !! Your rig is now "officially" broken in an it's "new" no more... Just another used Land Cruiser now !!!!!!!!:clap:

We got under the truck and used the round end of a baseball bat, then pushed like heck!

Popped out very nicely.

My 8 year old noticed it today and said:

“Mom is gonna kill you!“

I replied:

“What is it going to take for you to keep your mouth quiet?“

To which he said :

" A new transformer toy!"

Guess where I am going this afternnoon!

A kid after my own heart!

He knows that after I get him the transformer, if he talks....he will find pieces of hois transfomer all around the house for weeks!

We have an understanding.

Maybe tieing him to a chair and having him watch my LC run over it would be a better motivator!

chicks dig battle scars....'nuff said

Wives do not! Circa 2000 a friend slid into a rock in Moab and banged up the DS door on his wife's new 100. She was not on the trip. I told him to tell her a runaway shopping cart got it. My wife who was present couldn't believe I suggested that. It worked though. I think that is what he told his insurance agent too:)

Perfect excuse for an aftermarket rear bumper!

Threads like this keep me on mud for hours on end.... Cheap entertainment!!!!!! Someone already said it, but atleast you are using the rig for what its made for... Good luck with the wife....
