Just got back from a trip and daughter informed me that our 95 FZJ began to make a strange noise while I was gone. Took it for a test drive and yes, it is there. Trying to narrow it down but it seems to do it mostly with the AC on. AC is still working, however it seems to be a grinding sound that last about a second or so when applying the brakes or accelerating out of a corner. Does not do it while driving or idling that I can tell. Has new pads and rotors that are about a year old and 3000 miles or so with new front calipers at the time. Doesn't seem like the tell tale clicking of the Birf's but I am going to add grease to them today anyway. I thought it also could be the exhaust as I just chopped the resonator off to install a 4x4 labs bumper a week before it started. Thinking that is more of just a coincidence though.

Anybody had any experience with something like this?

How about the A/C clutch?

If it doesn’t do it with the ac off then, I would look at ac clutch and pulley bearing
Since you had done pass and rotors check wheel bearings
