Woah - it's BIG!
Is that a huge drawer that pulls out?

Did you use the old back seat mounting holes to mount it?
A couple of chains or a pair of removable legs and the unit's back door would make a nice table/workspace.

hi Norm

yes it's a big one :D

have not decided on mounting method, there are several options including the one you suggest :hmm:

yep the draw "slides" out and the back door makes an excellent work platform, was going with chains but changed my mind.

edit, for size scale the last image shows Coleman Xtreme 70 Quart (66 L) Cooler. just trying to work out the partitioning.

:)

Cool - tons of room in there!
I got my BJ74 rear storage thingy finished last week too, I used some angle iron to mount to one of the seat mount holes, and copied greg_b's turnbuckle idea to hold the rear down. It's very sturdy.

I know you're planning on ARBs pretty soon, so this might interest you. I ran the air line up through one of the seat mount bolts - had to drill the hole out a tiny bit, then ran the line through a little piece of vacuum hose where it goes through the hole. A bit of silicone and it should be good.

Cool.

I am just about finished the drawers in my 74. I wanted to keep the rear seat intact so they are quite a bit smaller than yours. I also needed to keep them low enough so that my dog could still get in the back as well. I have to get some updated pics but here is one from the construction/test fit stage:

I was debating how to secure the front of the drawers. I think I may have to steal the turn buckle idea. Looks too simple...

Hey BJ70 Guy..

any chance of posting a pic of the connection detail where your pull out panel is (at the front seat end of the unit)
It looks like you have a pull out panel or something there..
im interested in how it sits in there.. im still planning my build.. at the front of my unit (behind the drawers) i want to locate my 3rd battery and need a pull out panel or similar to maintain access to the battery and fuse block

Also.. what internal height drawers are you guys typically running.. i am planning on about 330mm high to fit 5L oil / coolant containers

Cheers i advance for the heads up

Offroadrunner: The front has 2 compartments, a sealed one that's split into 3 compartments for (2) 6" speakers and a 10" sub, and another that's for storage. I'll probably add a 3rd 12V battery, mount it in that compartment, charge it from the Solar converter, and run the 12V stuff from the battery via a Rigrunner. Still lots of room for fluids or parts or whatever.
Mine's just tall enough for a 4-5L jug - that was a mistake I made on my BJ70's drawer, it's only 9" tall, just to the top of the wheelwells. I think this one's 12" or so.

VE6LLZ, is that Craig's old 74? Nice drawers, nice doggie!

thanks Mate,

good idea with the hinges!.. might take that onboard
im also placing a sub at the front RHS.. but i was thinkin of leaving it in the sub box and just sliding it in the void.. by the looks it might be easier to just build the sub into the new box, along with the 6x9's and be done with it

Cheers

I'am also considering this type of pull out drawer. Will have a frame made of flat bar ( aluminium or m/steel) with supawood covering it. Left rear should be low to thefloor were I want to mount my camping fridge/freezer on a slider. Will post pics when done.
