beautiful ride! barn doors too.... the engine and interior look like theyre in great shape. i wish we could get the vinyl interior bits they could get elsewhere here.

Barn doors look cool, mostly because we didn't get them in the states, but I like having somewhere to sit and change into my snowboard boots.
Seriously, nice rig there.

Tried to get one that didn't have barn doors, but couldn't find a good enough one that was as rust free as this, and the paint is good, The only thing that I fixed(or my brother fixed) is the alternator seal was leaking, good having a brother who is an auto electrician who knows what to do :p

other then that, I really like the 4wd, and can't wait to take it off road after i've done a few things to it(lokka in the front diff :p)

Can anyone tell me if this is safe, short term or long term? I just noticed this came with a car .. it is a plug bypass's the voltage regulator? which doesn't work(the black module doesn't work) so I ripped it out anyway.

is it ok to leave it with that white plug in it(the wires are looped - back into the plug itself) - this is how the car came..

Where do the wires for the internal reg connect to? They are usually just plugged into that 6 pin plug (only 3 of wires are needed).I would leave the external reg mounted there if you plan on doing any touring.Often find an internal reg alternator in the wreckers but regs are nearly always missing. It is easy to switch between internal and external reg alternators if original bits are still in place.
You should not need to loop any wires in that plug if internal reg alternator is wired correctly, Looping those terminals bypasses your warning lights and you may find you are over charging the battery as well.

hi guys, I have a little oil leak, I have replaced it with 2 different rubber o-rings, but I can't buy them over the counter and need to be custom sized, the oil leak as slowed down a lot, but it's still leaking, but only a little now...

Is there seriously a shop(online) or in australia that I could buy the proper o-rings from?

Can I use a sealant like gasket glue to get a proper seal?

any helpful ideas appreciated :) thanks

cheers, I inquired further and apparently it has an inbuilt reg in the alternator, and that the external(factory reg) was not needed

That is correct but the internal reg may not be wired in correctly if those wires are looped at the original plug, The three wires from the internal reg should go to that plug. You will find a problem with the wiring that way if you fit a second battery (the ignition is looped and batteries will equalise even though ignition is switched off). I have just been through the same thing. The O ring is still available from Toyota. try asking for a hj60 vacuum pump packing 29342 96740-02063. You will need 1 (there are 2 the same in the pump assembly) at about $ 3.70 each. Where are you located ?

ah okey, will look into it with the dual batteries,

with that seal, I have ordered them at $5 each, they are both the same size? when I pulled it apart when I got the car, there were 2 seals but sizes were slightly different,,

I am from victoria, australia, the only places have it here seem to be toyota dealership-parts, no independent parts stores etc.

Yes mate they are the same part number for both those seals, they are a toyota only part.(not enough demand for aftermarket suppliers).
I am in Brisbane. If you are in Melbourne get in touch with http://sixtiestothecape.freeforums.org/4-x4-repairs-a-l-trademech-melbourne-t124.html
