Thanks MikeHi, Make sure you keep the transfer filled , until you fix it. Try putting a couple cans of carb. Cleaner down the carb with someone in the cruiser on the throttle. Mike
Maybe a picture to get yalls attentionAnyone know the best transfer case rebuild kit?
I've looked around and found plenty of various pricing, but not one is better than another as far as I can tell

I know Georg has good stuff. I bought both my kits from Cruiser Outfitters. No reason other than I was already getting a few other items from them. They are both really good to work with.@CenTXFJ60 any suggestions or is the terrain tamers kit from Georg the best?

Nesquik, I completely understand your apprehension. I had it as well. I redid two different cases over the last year and things seem to have worked out just fine. And yes the kit has the necessary seal to keep the oil from passing between cases. The FSM and MUD were the reason I was able to accomplish this job. Oh...and you'll want a press (or access to one). I used this as a reason to grab a Harbor Freight one. I've needed one many times before and used it many more times senseHey
hey TXFJ.
I think I *might* have oil making it from the TC to the 4spd. Did the kit you purchase include the necessary seals to resolve that as well?
When you rebuilt your TC (twice I take it?) did you remove the whole thing or rebuild under the truck?
I'm nervous about all this because it'll be all new and I'm not sure if I'm qualified to perform the work
Thanks Jim. I'll get a press and order a kit and have a whack at it.Nesquik, I completely understand your apprehension. I had it as well. I've needed one many times before and used it many more times sense. Also, I did both of them off the vehicle. I was upgrading each rig to a 5-speed as well. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be glad to tell you my experience with it. Thanks, Jim
Thanks for the tips JimI used my parts cleaner. thought about using the sand blaster but then it's a pain getting all the sand out of there. It gets in every nook and cranny. The key for me was patience, using the FSM and asking a lot of questions via MUD
