Hi fellow FJ'ers. I've been lurking since I started my FJ60 restoration and I wanted to take a moment to share the almost final results of my (work interrupted) year plus project.

I love this forum and the respectful discussion and banter on all things FJ. It has helped me figure out a few details as I worked through my rebuild and also discover some great vendors.

I'll chime back later with a vendor shout out that helped make the build a success. As well as some vendor pitfalls selling shoddy parts..

The foundation was very solid, zero rust, which on the east coast I appreciate.
Truck seems to have spent its life in california and AZ so it was really nice not needing a welding torch to take her apart for the restoration. Interior and exterior, including windows were gutted and prepped for paint. Sound deadening material was also applied everywhere in the interior. All suspension and steering components replaced or updated, the list is endless...

Without too much blather here are some before and after pics...BRG is the after pics ;).
Here are a few pics from the start middle and end.
My next mission is to connect with some local FJ'rs and hit the trails....not too muddy though.. Ha ha.

Guess I'm not so good at posting pics...
Here's a few more. I look forward to sharing more on the vendors I used to give credit where credit is due..

Thanks Mark. These rigs are very addicting. I'm off this week so I'm happily headed out to my garage to wrench on her some more to knock out some last little details. Strange thing is each time I cross two things off my whiteboard I add three more!! :)

Nice rig! Have duratracs on my tacoma. Loved them until 10-15kmiles later...they're noisy, otherwise tires are good. More pics!

Great looking truck and like that you have the old style ARB bumper. Great looking "deep forest" (my take) green color. I am in the process of slowly restoring mine (as it is a daily driver) so this year is fixing rust and hopefully paint/ML.

I like the green. I was considering something similar for years down the road when I finally get around to a paint job. Is that a NJ plate? I'm currently in Northwest Jersey.

I know what you mean... That's what makes it so much fun!

Love this. And totally agree, my punch list only seems to get longer. Protect that rig. East coast hates land cruisers

Hot oil undercoat, or leave it in a garage for the winter. I cleaned and painted my whole frame with master series silver. That stuff is great and I feel a lot more confident driving it in the northeast.

Nice!!

Thanks for the positive comments. I was leery on the color but in person the truck looks awesome.....imho ;) Plus I've used the color before so I knew it would look right.

The engine bay looks pretty much like any other 2f, I did desmog it, add a dual battery set up and do some overall cosmetic clean up via spiral wrap and logical wire pathing. What's up with Toy just dangling sensor wires near the exhaust manifold? Maybe it was the PO, but I think I replaced ten feet of Old crusty wire!

I have dreams of stuffing a Toyota diesel into it or maybe a small block (really would prefer an iForce v8 to keep it Toyota) into it someday.
My midterm goal is to get the 4speed swapped out for a 5. The 33's really help on the highway but now my 1st gear is really checked out of the 'lets get moving' party.
I think the 5 will give it the proper bottom and the top gearing.

Christmas again, UPS just showed up and dropped me these little gifts.
Out with OME's and in with the Bilstein 5100's.

Hi Nerf,
Yes I'm in NJ, Bridgewater area. If you ever need a hand wrenching let me know or better yet let's find some trails!

I'm up in Blairstown by the Water Gap and there are some trails around here. I'm trying to find all the spots.

Great looking rig. TLC did a rig in that color (I think it was listed for some ridiculous price say $30k, I could be wrong) anyhow I've been in love with that color ever since. Are those Bilsteins a direct replacement for the stock mounting? I see the photo on the box is different than the actual shock. I've but Bilsteins on a few sports cars of mine in that past and I've always been partial to them, not for any real good reason.

Nice job!
I like the color combo with the black rims.

Got a better pic of how you mounted your plate on your Kaymar?
