I like that idea. Looks like I could have $450 in my pocket now and not be spending $500 a month on parts. That really sounds like a winner in my book. Oh......what happened to the 20K I already dumped into the 40?
Let us know what you're next steps are u want to accomplish and we may be able to give some recommendations on how to cut costs. Some here have been able to build some nice cruisers on a pretty low budget.

I stopped counting what I spent after reaching 15K. Thats just about half of what a guy in town spent on his last DUI and the only thing he has to show is, he's not in jail. So I figure I am ahead. What parts still needed are tires, wheels, windshield, seats or get my frames recovered, some weatherstriping, exhaust, paint and assembly. For now I probably will use the chrome spoke wheels I have. Just need to get tires. Will get a windshield cut locally. Paint, will get it running first then maybe this winter I will squirt some enamel on it. Dont remember when I put it on the lift but it has been a very long time. Still need to assemble the front axle then install the engine and EFI system.

As my wife says, dont tell me how much you spend because it will spoil the enjoyment. I have a great wife BTW.

Finally looked. Beehive springs

While cleaning up junk I came across an old fuel pump block off plate. Bright lights went off in my head and I got an idea. Found my F fuel pump gasket and the bolt holes lined up perfectly on the plate. Just a bit of grinding on the edges and its ready to install.

Those brackets look very familiar :D

19.7"-20" length

50lb hatch

50-70lb hood depending on how much lift you want. I like being able to open the hood 1/2 way when I want it open but it's pissing rain (50 lb).

The 'worn out' Prius hatch struts from my 'recycle' pile open the hood all the way without any extra lift (+/- 96lbs 10 years ago). I'll toss them out in a few months after I'm done my next project that'll use gas struts... if I don't just use them.

Had a few minutes yesterday to work on the hatch shocks. Drilled out the holes in the mounting brackets to 1/4". After making sure the shocks had clearance when hatch was closed I measured the closed distance, 12.5". I raised the hatch to maximum height and measued it, 18.75. Then I looked for shocks to fit. Ordered a pair that were 18.5" long 60lb. When everything is ready for final assembly I will use 1/4" poprivets to secrue the brackets. Will use the shocks that are on it now for the hood.

Cleaning a storage box today and I found this. Did not even know I had it. Dented but no rust passenger side fender. What am I going to do with it? Looks like its going to scrap along with a truck load of mostly 40 stuff.

Finally got around to assembling the front axle. Everything was ok until I tried to install the axles. My short birf's are hitting the housing. No way for them to slide in. Looks like 2mm needs to be ground away somewhere. Well it looks like I get to disassemble another axle for the birf's or not have a working front axle. Who needs a working 4X4 when its a highway only rig????

You dont have anyone in the area to give these to? You gotta do what you gotta do but someone would appreciate the "hand me downs".

Have tried to give away a hood, axles and other large things. No takers. So they are off to be recycled.

For the last few months the 40 has been setting on the lift. Last night I assembled the front axle minus the birfs and today it will be moved. Now to bolt everything together and see if it gets finished or just sets for another 30 years...........

Wait a minute...where in Missouri are you and what kind of things are you giving away? I’m in Oklahoma but free is free and worth a trip sometimes.
