The two speed rear fan is the same as a single speed. There's a resistor, 1 ohm I believe, which creates the lower speed. I posted pictures and details in a thread years back.

I have read several different posts and I think this is the resistor you were talking about. Was going to buy 2, one for the rear and one for the front blower. Also plan on changing the front blower motor to the Ford Escort one.

Two speed rear heater.

Dug up the old thread. The resistor was much smaller (1.25") and 4 ohm (my mistake). There are pictures in the thread which show the original mounting. On low speed the fan is essentially silent.

I've yet to wire and install a switch to select the low speed. It hasn't been a high priority and I've figured I'll take care of it during the rewire of the rig... unless I get to it sooner.

I actually saved your picture on that thread. The resistor link I posted would be for the front blower, found it in another thread. Will look for the rear resistor later this week. My dash has 2 heater switches and both have 3 positions, off, low and high. If the 40 does get to live in Finland I think it will need all the heat available.

Started the desmog of a 79 2F. Lots of hoses everywhere. Broke a couple fittings off smog pipe that goes into the head. Will braze them shut. Still not decided on which ps pump I will use. Have the original Toyota pump and cooler or use a GM pump and mount where the smog pump is now. Have a factory engine oil cooler on this engine and I plan on using it. Will install the @Trollhole carb and dist next.

Pulled the distributor then used a drill to pump up oil. After I had good oil pressure I used the starter to turn the engine over. I did do a compression check. All were over 120. So far it looks good. Still need to decide on how to install an exhaust system. This engine has dual pipes off the manifold. Prefer to use a single pipe.

Before smog removal

All gone except the smog pump.

I am a bigger idiot than I thought I was. I left the receipt for the engine machine work and parts on our dresser. My lovely wife saw, opened and read it. Her reply, I don't want to know how much it cost because it will take the fun out of it.

I have decided that this will be together, running and driving by May 19, 2018. If that does not happen I will start parting it out.

Mounted the Volvo ps pump for the FJ60 steering box. Might have a slight problem.

Valley Hybrids has a great option that uses a newer style pump, youll need a Jim C idler pulley, too.:

Thanks for the info. For now I think it will be manual steering. Just need to get it running sometime soon.

Looked into headlights since I am setting at work most of the time. First was J W Speaker LED's. After the shock of $500 headlights set in I kept looking. Since I hope to take this to Finland with us I am looking at Euro spec lights. Hella H4 002395991 headlamps are probably what I will use. Price is good and the bulbs are repaceable. Will wire up some relays or look into LED bulbs.

Hella Halogen European-Styled Headlamps 002395991

Dug out a rear end out of my scrap pile. Will tear it apart to rob the spider gears since I plan on removing the Lockrite. Will try to do that before work tomorrow. My fancy rebuilt F.5 is at the machine shop waiting for a camshaft before he starts assembly. I will try to get my bent reground cam shipped to Delta cams sometime. Since I have 2 engines I really do not know if it will be installed or just let it set in the corner of the garage.

Been looking at what we can realistically will take with us to Finland. The 40 is so far down the list it's almost impossible to take it. So with that said, it looks like I will try to get it running and enjoy a it bit before moving.

I've been running Hella Euro halogen for 25 years and have been very happy with them. If you're selling it, I'd get everything working and not worry about upgrading the headlights. It won't sell for more because you bought new headlights... shiny paint, but not brighter headlights.

If I was moving to Finland to retire, I'd bring mine. I've given up riding a motorcycle so I'd want it just because.

Wife and I had a heart to heart talk. We will be taking a daily driver, a New Holland compact tractor with several attachements, huge amount of tools and most of everything in the house. In Finland most places don't have a garage. The ones that have a garage it's generally one bay and maybe an open bay of your lucky. So when all the tools and tractor are in the garage there will be no place for the 40. I want to take the 40 with us and I will still try.

Headlights, I was building towards Euro specs. My thinking was the more Euro things I install here the less I would have to deal with when I got there.

Selling, I have way too much to get my money back. Will add up what I can get by parting it out and that's probably more than I would get by selling as a whole. My plan is to get it running sometime this fall. Will drive it a summer or two then start selling it one piece at a time. I have a fresh unassembled F.5 that I have thought about trying to sell.

This is a typical garage in Finland. Not much room.

Just take it as it comes, once you drive it you will know if you want to bring it or not.
As long as you have space near the house you can add a carport to start with.

I dropped my intake by the local machine shop to get 2 broken bolts out. Picked it up today. No charge for doing it. Even inserted heli-coils. Hard to see but now there's a hole. Guess it's off to the welder now.

This is a bit off topic but maybe not.

Well my wife has been in Finland for a several days now visiting family and friends. She sent me this picture with the words
"this might be our new driveway". All she said is we will talk about it when she gets home. I don't see any tracks on the road so maybe, just maybe we will need a 40 to get there.

You have to bring it with you. You will be miserable without it!

Made the decision to convert to TBI injection. Will be using a AFI harness, chip and distributor. For the speed sensor setup I think Dakota Digital will have everything I need to keep the original speedo. Will be a lot easier to convert to km/h when we move. Looking for a km/h speedo face or might just get the decals and change that way. Will need to change the camshaft as I was planning on using the Delta 262 grind. Not enough vacuum for the computer. Sometime this winter the fully worked F.5 will be assembled. Will need to speak a bit about the F.5. A good friend of mine is doing all of the assembly and he took it to the machine shop. All new GM LS valves, springs, ITM pistons, Hasting rings, FelPro gaskets, Delta reground cam and Bearings were??? Block was bored .030, decked .020 and head surfaced .010.

The above picture. I was looking at building lots in Koli National Park a while back. When my wife was in Finland she went to Koli and this should be the road to where "my lot" is located. She suggested I should look at the west coast area. So off to Raseborg I will look.

I dug through my pile of scrap and got all the driveshafts. I have (2) 4 speed rear, (2) 3 speed front, (1) 3 speed rear and the rest are???? Looks like I will need to get a front driveshaft made. Did not realize there were so many different driveshafts.
