What are some must have cheap mods? Let's say under $300

I know the question is very broad, but lets list some of your favorite mods that were cheap and improved the vehicle in some way (whether it's OEM maintenance related or aftermarket add ons/replacements).

Yes...get everything PFran LEDS!

for me... it was all the led lights (blue in the dash and I really like em) less than $20 for all off ebay... and the double din touch screen with nav stereo ( and back up camera) $130 off ebay.... next if i needed it ( i don't on mine) is the $299 new leather for the front seats... as far as ride... new shocks less than $100... rack bushings might be the best $40

Take your pick:
  • D light mod
  • Center pocket
  • Pfran LEDs
  • Window tint
  • AGM battery
  • Cabin air filters
  • USB charger(s)
  • JDM horns
  • Coax + antenna (w/ CB or Ham install)
  • Baseline fluids
  • Backup camera
  • Stainless steel brake lines
  • Wind deflector
  • Hitch mount bike rack
  • Sound proof/insulation
  • Philips HIR 9011/9012 bulbs
  • Rear springs
  • Front mud flaps
  • New mats

Depending on the model year, its condition, and your intended use:

Making sure you have more than 1 "master" key?
Remove running boards?
Heater T replacement?
Wiper blades?
Pfran LEDs?
Replace burned out dash/HVAC/switch lights with LEDs?
Tighten loose HVAC console knobs?
Rubertite/Hexomat/Weather tech floor mats?
scan gauge/torque app?
A set of factory service manuals?
Steering rack bushings?
Stereo replacement?
Mini VCI TIS cable?
Smittybilt compressor?
Tire plug kit?
Roadside emergency kit?
First aid kit?
Recovery brackets?
Tow strap(s)?
A thorough cleaning inside and out?
Roof rack removal?
Wind deflector removal?

Almost 1 year of owning the LC. Mods to me means an improvement - not base-lining, or replacing anything that are broken or worn out. Having said that, these are what I think are the best bang for the buck so far:
- Steering rack bushing - replace rubber with poly
- Scan gauge - connected all the time for monitoring
- Cheap LEDs from Ebay to improve lighting situation

Upcoming mods:
Rear back up camera - PO already installed Alpine head unit with GPS
Find something better than the OEM fog lights - will share when I figure it out

What I've done that fits your criteria:

Console pocket
Cabin air filters
Remove running boards
Four new OEM shocks (they're around 30-40 each)
Double din stereo-back up cam-amp bypass (under your price limit, but a decent amount of work)

If I were you I'd just save it and enjoy the truck stock.

Do all you can for free for as long as possible then when you can afford it upgrade tires and get sliders.

You could also build a set of drawers for relatively cheap. Fun project, mine aren't pretty but they work!

Any advice where I can got those new leathers?

Weathertech.

Bluetooth head unit.

Home brew sliders

@labcab did an amazing job to the leather seats. Mine isnt that bad, but my wife saw this, and she got all excited. I need to do some research, I am not sure which are better path financially, and how long it will last longer - trying to recover the old leather, or install new covers.

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Not a LC/LX owner yet (haven't found the right one) but the ScanGauge II is on sale at Amazon for 109.98

It'll be going into my 04 4Runner till I get my LC/LX. Hopefully this helps anyone waiting for this to go on sale.
