This started off as an 85 Toyota Pickup...

After several flops and 1 nasty roll, my body and cage was tweaked so badly(poor design) and my then carb'd small block caught fire in Moab(utah)---I decided it was time for me to go ahead and build a buggy.

burn baby burn!

I am using the front section of the 85 Toyota frame since the leafs fit my budget at the moment and the steering is already converted from push-pull to a crossover hi-steer setup.

The Specs are as follows...
4.3L Vortec V6--with howell wiring/computer, on nitrous...
TH350 tranny
Dual toyota transfer cases, 2.28:1 in the front 4.7:1 in the rear
welded rear, aussie locker front

I just ordered some Hella black magic lights, and looking for a FJ40 bezel... and will be ordering a Trent Fab hood soon to get the front end all figured out.

I think pics tell the story better so I'll just post pics as I go along...

Nice, Your crossing over to the Cruiser realm! looks like a good start for a driveway build!

Keepin the Yota Axles?

Ya toy axles still. I'm not big money hustlin quite yet! Plans are for 39.5 IROks soon but I am pretty dry on funds with this build already... Thank god all my parts I've already bought

looks good rob.

when's that new video comin out? Can't wait to see my roll.

Hey dude good to see you on here! I'm not quite sure when we are going to release the new flick. We erased the August schedule because I really need to get this rig done to be able to shoot on the trails better. It's really hard to bum rides from people you have just met almost everywhere you go!

Today I feel like I accomplished alot, lower part of the X is done, the lower rear hoop is done and also some cross pieces to mount flooring as well as a level platform for my gas tank mount. I've gotta make a few more braces for the rear hoops... Getting closer... 2.5 weeks--can I get this rig ready in time???:bounce:

Don't think I'm gonna mount the CO2 tank back there, it just doesnt seem like the right place. Maybe mount it in my Dad's FJ40 so I don't have to lug it around :grinpimp:

Nice build, even better in a upscaled neighborhood.

Only part my wife hated before I got a shop was the damn grinding dust on the driveway that turned to rust.

Nice cruiser..

Rob

Just talked to Derek over at Trent Fabrication... I ordered a smoked plastic FJ40 hood from them. They have good prices and if they hold up as good as the guys on PBB say--then it's money well spent. Also got some Hella black magic lights ordered... All I'm missing is a bezel but there's a local guy I think I'll be able to pick one up from.... So far so good now to get back to work!!

Totally! :flipoff2:

Did you ever get your DVD back from JT?? SORRY about that ! :whoops:

Tell you what, you get that buggy ready in 2 weeks and I will donate $100 to the buggy fund.

Now, strike and arc and quit fawking around on Mud.

I hope I can get it done. I'm jobless so I can work every day all day on it.

I have a friend taking off work next week to help me all week. Between the two of us we should be able to get it running. I need to get the tubing finished this week as well as the 4 link... That's this week's priority.

2 weeks, this shoudl be a sweet build thread...

Never did get it back. I was gonna talk to JT after the last race but he was pretty shaken up so I didn't want to bother him.

I guess you owe me a few beers eh?

I owe you a few beers and a copy of the new DVD.. Sorry Mark, I'll see you in a few weeks tho! I'm sure the DVD is still sitting there on his DVD player in the shop.

I'm trying, I ran through a list today and it really looks doubtful that it'll be completly done, but I am not working on anything other than the buggy for the next 2 weeks. If I'm still not done, I'll be that much closer.

I got the firewall-ish tubes bent up today but today was mainly a re-organize day. I had to clean the garage and cut the frame section in pieces small enough for me to haul off to the scrapper in my sonoma.

Tomarrow I pick up a bezel :grinpimp:, and I'll be using my dad's 40 hood to mock up the firewall tubes + plating that'll be on them. Tomarrow I'll be able to bend the roofline/A pillar bars...

Awesome, I have jam out on projects like that before. I did a full frame swap myself in 5 days on my fj60...The last time I did that it almost killed me, I was up til 4 am welding the exo-cage together- and we had to leave the same morning for the trails...

Goood luck man, you can do it....

No Worries man. I can only imagine the state of mind you were in by the end of the night. I'm planning on taking friday off this time so I can hit it hard thursday night
