MT fender question

How are you guys that are running the MT fenders fastening your aprons where they meet the tub/body, are you using anything to strengthen the apron after the factory bend has been cut on the bottom and what are you using to fill the gap between the apron and fender once everything is back together?

mine are still in the box but i was thinking of useing edge gard that you can find at a trailer store
