Hi Folks,
I'm a newbie and this is my first post. My wife and I purchased a house in Saint-Béat way up in the Pyrenees near the border with Spain. We plan on retiring there full-time in two years. Older Land Cruisers seem to be rarer then hens' teeth there. I was considering purchasing a 60 series here and shipping it there. Does anyone have experience trying to ship an older Land Cruiser into France? I'm wondering if it would require so many modifications to register it that it wouldn't be worth it. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Agreed, you have all of Europe and Middle East to shop. I'd look into France's import stipulations and get the best cruiser you can get overseas. Perhaps something diesel with barn doors.

@Dunkane

What can he find over there ? (as long as he doesn't have to go to Paris :rolleyes: )

You are really going to love spending $175 to fully fill the tank on an FJ60 over there :doh: I'd for sure source something over there and while your at it look for a diesel so you at least get a little more range out of the astronomic fuel bill.

I was in Sarlat-la-Caneda area for 8 days last fall with my GF who became fiance. We really enjoyed the area and I recommend it if you haven't been there yet. Lots of nice country side and castles and we spent an afternoon in Gouffre de Padirac which was amazing...and being there in the off season we had the whole place to ourselves...other than the people who work there of course.

I have seen many nice 60 and 70 Series in Spain. May be easier to import from there? Plus, many are diesels!!!

We were there around Christmas 2017. That is an incredibly pretty town.

That's great information and I've heard most people in that part of France get used cars in Spain because it's less expensive. I also wouldn't have to worry about EU compliance issues. Thanks for the information!

Yep, this would definitely not be my everyday driving vehicle. Thanks for your thoughts!

Keep us posted. Look forward to seeing the new ride when you find it.

Also when were were there we saw a lot of Land Rover defenders in all levels of build from stock work truck to go any where overland machine. But saw very few Toyota’s driving around.

Last one was actually in Italy.
