G'Day,
I'm in the process of moving the air filter box from the left side - as you look into the engine bay, to the right side of my HJ61 running a 12HT. The purpose of this is to make better use of the space on the left side in my veggie oil conversion that is moving to the next level - a two tank set up. I'll use the space for filters, heat exchanger and switching valves.
I've taken some progress photos, see website: http://homepage.mac.com/peoplehelp/landcruiser/airfilter/ My question is has anyone done this before? Perhaps I should have asked this 12 hours ago before I started pulling things apart
So far things have gone smoothly, tho I did have to cut a large hole in the inner guard to take the inlet for the air filter. I'm using my existing air filter box. I am heading to the exhaust shop tomorrow to see if they can fabricate up a tight bend in a steel pipe to go from the outlet to the air filter direct to the turbo inlet - now a much shorter distance that I've got rid of the alloy tubing across the top of the motor.
I'm also wondering what needs to go inside the guard for the air pickup. There seems to be a plastic box, no doubt designed to keep out water on the standard fitting. I'm not sure I want to be bothered with that as I don't 'plan' on any river crossings. Any thoughts?
