Hey Kirk -

Thanks for the info and the pictures. That really looks like a great place to explore. We may be checking in with you if we can get a group together to go down south sometime soon.

When we went down, we just camped at the Butte, it's not too far and it is a nice CG, just a thought. We would be up for a trip there as well - let me know if you want me to try and get Chris to help out (the USFS guy).

If you could get up into the mtns. to camp its much cooler then the Butte, it has NO shade and its always hot & windy.
There are 2 campgrounds close by that are nice, with tables & outhouses.

Both Hughes and Bear Trap are wonderful campgrounds. Of the two I prefer Bear Trap.

Same here. We pulled in to the campground the 1st time we had been up there set out the tents and the rain came. We spent the rest of the early evening and all night inside two tents talking on the radios to each other (2 families) the fog rolled in early in the morning so thick we couldn't see the trucks from the tents. One of the best trips we have taken though.
Hope we can get a trip up this year there.

Interesting, 52 is now paved. Guess it's been awhile since I've been there.

Camping for June run.

I would like to make this run. I'm thinking about the run and then going to the Butte because our company has a house down there. Not the nicest house but beds, bathrooms, and shower are better than a stream. There is enough sleeping space for 20-25. I asked yesterday and no one was planning on using it. I can check this week if anyone is intersted. I would not mind a BBQ Saturday nite and then taking the jet skis out on Sunday. Nice thing about the house is there is no worries to travel to the dock, the duece will take the jet skis and the boat to the shore. About the shade, tents are already there. Let me know if interested.

NOW, I know who this Kirk guy is....finally

I will down there this weekend. Just wondering what the plans were. I was going to skip, but had a disagreement with a friend because she went wild with inviting her friends. Now I have the house to myself most of the weedkend. A couple of friends are showing up but they may be up for off roading.

there's sticky thread at the top about the plans.
