I want to run the Mojave road after Thanksgiving. So far it looks like I may go by myself (again).

1. I haven't set an exact date. I would prefer not to leave the Friday after due to the number of people doing just that. Saturday or Sunday (11/28-29) would be preferable.
2. I haven't set the number of days. I can run the road in 2 days if its cut short and up to 5 days sight seeing off trail stuff. I would prefer at least 3 days.
3. I normally leave from the AVI Casino and come back.
4. I would like to keep the vehicle number to 5 max

What this all means is I'm open to suggestions. December 4-6th is an event in Occitillo Wells I want to go to so I would prefer to be back by then.
The only requirements are a working radio (ham preferred, CB ok. I don't have a GMRS), a well maintained vehicle and a good attitude. I don't care if you have any real experience. New people are welcome.

The weather will be Cold, Hot, Windy, Rainy, Clear. Weather doesn't bother me and I have run this in all conditions.

You can post questions here or PM me.

Anyone up for it?

If you elevate to a definite maybe, there's another maybe from San Francisco area.
I have this posted in two forums,
Heres the link to the other OB. if you both end up going we can coordinate better in one spot.

No problem. I have two maybe's on the other forum. I will be visiting my mother in Vegas beforehand. If I end up alone, I will just take a few days and cross country back home. Don't worry about it being an issue if you have to drop.
Thank you for keeping me informed.

I'd be all for it if not for a mandatory 14day stay at home order if I go out of state.

I'd like to join if you've still got space. I've been wanting to do Mojave Rd for a while now. I can join you Sat-Tues.

Sounds great. So far all I have are three "tentative". If your sure you can go, we can set the exact date's and work out the route variances. It can be run in two and a half long days if you keep the sight seeing to a minimum. I've spent as much as five but, only using the route as more of a reference point and exploring off to the sides. I'm good with anything.
I prefer to start in Laughlin and come back. That way if the trip has to be cut short for whatever reason, the last day and a half your actually paralleling the I-15. I will be visiting family in Vegas for Thanksgiving. I will drive over from there.

Dates are Saturday to Tuesday (11/28-12/1). So far were staging out of Avi Saturday morning and exiting Tuesday. Staging spot is tentative and could change.

Hmm, I'll be visiting family in Vegas for Thanksgiving as well. Gotta see if the wife can fly home from there and I could join. Gotta be back at work on 12/02 for sure. Never ran this before, would this schedule give me enough time to get back to the Bay by late 12/01?

Running it from east to west, you have a few more "bailout" points. At one point we somewhat run parallel to the I-15. That's always been a good time to top off fuel if needed. I know one is razor road, cant remember the other. Start Sat (11/28) by Monday (11/30) were aligned with I-15. Not sure how long your drive is from there.

Considering I see Subaru's out there, don't see why not. There's one section of soft sand and if the dry lake is muddy were going around it. I very rarely need 4wd.

it's an "easy" trail when dry. but when wet sometimes even the most capable 4x4's can't do it

Well... a few years ago, I spent 4 days on it. Heavy rain every day and an ice storm on new years eve. Soda lake was the only issue and I regret crossing it due to the amount of mud I'm still cleaning off. That was the year the route from Piute washed out. We traversed the wash out after sticking rocks in the gully. Capable? Sure. My rig was the only one not on street tires and no one had lockers. The route is an ungraded dirt road.

Bumping this.
So far we have a couple of vehicles coming. Still room if anyone wants to join in.

I'm 90% sure I'll make it. Gotta buy some flights home for the wife and daughter from Vegas. Once that's done, I'm in!

Hey All, I am coming in from the Bay Area. Driving down Friday, spending the night at the Avi Casino. I do not have a recovery kit or winch or anything to air up but sounds like the trail is easy enough.
