Have you done anything else with the rtt idea? I have a bunch of different ones running through my head, i like yours as a simple shelter. Our problem in the south are the bugs and humidity, when it is warm enough to head out on the boat

I never went anywhere with it. We had a couple old tents that we were going to modify, but our trip came up before the tent got too far underway. My wife was working on the sewing patterns and said it's worth it to buy one if we want it that bad, then threw out the old tent fabric. I haven't pursued it any further since then.
I did get a lot of use out of the roof rack though. At one point last year I cut it in half because it was too hard to get on the rig with just one tall person and one short (5'8'') person without scratching the truck. I did it in a hurry (15 minutes). It still works, but I should have made it a 3/4 rack instead of a half rack. I've still got the hardware, so I'm sure I'll build something else in the future.
