guys starded this thread so we would'nt be hi jacking other threads.Noticed not many people run mitsubishi turbo diesels so i thing this would be a good thread to share ideas and mods that may benefit others.Feel free to share any ideas or ask questions. All models of mitsubishi turbo diesels are welcome.it would also be nice to start by telling us what engine model you have.

I have a 4d34t 3at3a with a mechanical injection pump stock specs are about 145hp ang 370nm tourque. My goal is to bump it up to about 180hp.

I'm here, subscribed.

I am running 1996 4d34-1at with the mechanical Denso inline pump. This is all bolted to the stock 60 series a440 trans and splitcase in the stock location.

In the US, post 1996 had the electronic controlled governor. So, 3at pumps are more complicated for us to run, but both Superhatch and Fromage have wired it up.

IS your throttle pedal electronic or a cable?

If it's a cable it is easy to get more power but you should add a pyrometer before you mess with it so you don't melt your engine.

I have a 4d34 3at3a but its a mechanical injection with cable type throttle.

Pacer, how did you turn up the fuel on yours?

I cranked the fuel screw one half turn (I don't remember which way, in or out) when I first installed the engine. I never drove it differently yet.

I also put a half turn on the boost compensator at the rear of the pump.

I'll look for a link to explain the boost comp.

Pacer if you ever have the chance can you show pics of the fuel screw and boost compensator screw. I think we have similar looking injection pumps since yours is also mechanical.

Yes, this is the max fuel screw, adjusting this two turns out from factory made an enormous difference in overall engine performance!

Then engine feels lively, willing to accelerate in all gears at any time (even up hill with 35"s).
It now spooles the turbo like a light switch! Almost instant 23psi.
I'll get a video up for you guys next week.

Still no smoke out the tail pipe!

My understanding is adjusting the boost compensation at the back of the pump will produce smoke (the smoke screw).

Pacer how did you adjust this screw? Did you turn it clockwise or counter clockwise to get more power?
