Beautiful markings. Is that a Eastern Diamondback?

Yep. Used to see them all the time in the Delta. I’ve not seen one in all my ramblings in years

I woulda never got close enough to see the 7 buttons.

I went searching for what was reported to be the oldest light house in Mississippi. Turns out it could be true. It’s in Old Avera on the banks of the Chickasawhay River just SW of State Line.

Supposedly from 1840.

Red is out of town so I took the LONG way home again from Oxford.
I wanted to get another slice of Holly Springs National Forest mapped and then tie into my Coldwater Route. I ended up going around Malmaison which requires a big west hook but along the way I found some superb gravel roads in Tallahatchie Wildlife Refuge

124 miles from Water Valley to Winona. Probably 100 of them gravel. One section took 4Low for a stretch.

We hit some private land south of Lexington and let Lou air out the Goblin. Dustin and I just tried to stay on top of the sand. It was super soft.

Lots of good trails out there. Used to ride there in college all the time. Let me know next time you visit.

next time you have free time I’d love for you to vet my trail. It’s pretty legit

I'll run it in February and add a few waypoints. I want to get a DLC ride out there after hunting season is over. We could do an open ride and end it with skeet shooting and fish fry at our place.

I was down there this weekend. My farm is right by the Oakmulgee district. A lot of neat stuff is around like the Moundville Indian mounds, Cahaba river basin and Perry Lakes. The Black Belt is the best deer hunting in AL, so with gun season starting this Saturday, 11/23, it will sound like a war zone until the end of deer season on 2/10.
