I installed a mini truck power steering box using the Valley Hybrid bracket. I'm just getting around to fitting the fender and the stock opening in the fender is too small. This isn't surprising but I can't find anywhere where anyone else had to cut the opening larger. Before I start cutting wanted to confirm this is a requirement. Also some pics of other cut openings would help guide me.

Do later model fenders have larger openings to accommodate the ps box?

I had to trim the fender on my '71 FJ40 for a mini-truck box mounted to a custom bracket, but I installed the same exact set-up on my '76 FJ40 with no need to trim it.

Same here with my 77, no trim required

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the earlier fenders had a smaller opening and I'll have to cut.

@WildernessRimFab I like the idea of keeping the splash guard. I'll see if I can do that.

I had to do minor trimming on my '78 for the pitman arm. I wouldn't sweat it.

My 10/72 fender with mini truck PS, on a mount that I fabricated in the stock location, those earlier fenders do have smaller openings.
