OK, I am gonna finally try and install my mini discs that has been sitting for 5 months now. My question is, I remember turning the knuckle by hand to get it out of the joint so does it go back in that way, the flat spot on top and twist 90 degrees, is there a special way or easier way to do these.

Yes they go in flat spots top and bottom.
There is no easy way, just try not to fawk up the inner oil seal. Once inserted, you may need to twist the birf to get the splines to line up in the side gears.

twist = jiggle for reinstall, and twisting the front d-shaft also helps a bit.

The front axle shafts fit SNUGLY into the birfs,... be prepared to try several times before the inner cage will line up perfectly, and not turn to one side or another inside the birfield.
