Where do you get 'em, and how much? I'm thinking I need one for yard crap, camping, etc.

If you are getting up to the $1200 mark plus shipping, then you are getting to the new custom trailer price. Might as well build your own 4x4 trailer then to your specs. Take the frame from a small tent trailer and build on that. They come up free fairly often.
Last week I saw a real cool aluminum boat trailer. It was a welded aluminum boat - about the size of a small herring skiff that had an axle and tires fitted into the body of the boat. Looked like 15" rims. However, it had no room for any articulation.

Rob, that's true of a lot of things, but probably not military trailers. The Yanks have been snatching up a lot of our CDN 101s... which is what you'll want, Jeff.
Greg and I got ours from a guy in Abby. No idea if he has any more (Greg_B might know), that was a few years ago. I don't recall the price, but they were in good shape - light surface rust only...
A friend of mine bought one from him and had him sandblast and paint it, for an extra $300 or so. It looked awesome, I should have had him do mine too:

Thanks Norm, I couldn't remember the numbers either. 101, 105 come to mind. I see them for sale occaisionally, but never where you need them! I see the one for sale in the US is 1660lb's dry weight! Yikes.
Yup, fellow in Abbotsford who is a military vehicle buff. I'll stop by there this week and see if they have any. Nice thing with these guys it they register with ICBC so there are NO issues when transfering title and getting insurance.
I should have got in on that deal for $300.00 too. Screaming price for blast and paint. He loves what he does, that's fore sure.

If you go by there, ask him if he's still doing it! IIRC he bedliner'd the inside as well.
I have an M101A1 that weighs 1400 lbs dry. It's heavy but VERY functional.
This isn't for sale of course.
My utility trailer weighs about 600LBS and is built out of 2" x 1/4 angle iron. The full floater and fj40 springs probably account for a third of the weight. I had 1.5-2 yards of sand in it one day, it didn't flinch. The bj60 had a bitch of a time pulling it though.

i got my m101 from a guy out in N van earlier this year. cost me a grand. already had a tailgate in it and is in decent condition...minor surface rust. on the expo boards someone bought one from a fellow out in kelowna thats got a bunch of em as well...all in good condition too. i think the guy paid $950 or something like that.

I'd assume so as well. The guy has enough projects in his back 40 to last a lifetime, blasting and painting 101s can't be too high on his list of fun stuff to do.

Needless to say I underestimated the weight of the sand. I had been hauling gravel, but apparently gravel is light compared to sand. When I went to get the sand, the old boys were all laughing "your going to put sand in that, ha, ha"

Yup that price is if you buy the trailer as well, and his price had gone up a bit on those too. When I bought mine about a year and a half ago he wanted $1k for a trailer in as-is condition with papers and canvas cover, sand blast and paint were extra. He was bringing them over from Alberta. Don't know what he has there now.
I was going to buy from him then same day I found mine hooked up to an iltis at Able Auctions in Coquitlam. Including auction fees but no papers was around $600.
They are a great trailer but being a top loader no tailgate makes it more work for carrying material like sand/soil, and the short tongue can take a bit to get used to.
Mike is the guy in Abby - pm and I'll pass along his number and let him quote you the costs. I bought one from him last month (M101-A1) and he had only one other similar model at that time. He doesn't have time or need to dicker but I got a good deal and lots of extra's thrown in.
Considering the price of crappy new 'utility' trailers, some of the ugly home built stuff out there and the price of your time, I think these can be a bargain that will outlast the rest.
