Our 2000 LX with 115K miles on it just changed a bit. The gas milage dropped way off and the throttle response seems week. It has been well maintained. Any thoughts? Air filter, dirty throttle body, plugs?

If I clean the throttle body, do I need to clean the mass air sensor at the same time? Any suggestions there?

Thanks!

It certainly wouldnt hurt to clean both, but make sure you use the appropriate chemicals for each. I would suspect that the mileage decrease is directly related to the throttle response. Its the time of year when a lot of people are having issues with the APPS and TPS (caused by cold weather). I have been getting the slow throttle response along with the vsc and trac lights, and once the CEL came on. From what I have read, cleaning the throttle body will remedy or at least postpone an APPS replacement.
