I have an old pair of Dunlop Grandtrek AT23 tires on my 2003 Land Cruiser. The Grandtreks are average, nothing spectacular or worth buying again. Should I upgrade to the Michelin Latitude Tour HP's or the Michelin LTX M/S 2's ? Both of these are highly rated by Consumer Reports, Tire Rack, user reviews etc. I have 18" rims and never go off road. I also have a Honda Odyssey, and for her, I have a set of Michelin Defender all-seasons and a set of Michelin X-Ice snow tires. This gets expensive for a Land Cruiser, so I want to spare myself the expense and just have a very good set of all-season tires. Which Michelin would do better on ice and snow covered highways? Thanks!

I'm putting this out as you mentioned ice and snow covered roads. I have a set of Granteks I used, they are a great winter tire. I got this tread design for our corolla, but I think these Toyo's are worth considering. http://www.toyotires.ca/sites/default/files/imce/2013_WLT1_EN.pdf
Good luck, now is the perfect time to be looking at winter tires.

Hi Dan,

I think the A/T2's are too aggressive for my situation here in southern Connecticut. It's just a little confusing making a decision between the Latitude Tour HP and the LTX M/S2. Thanks!

I have the ltx m/s.....they last forever. I must have at least 50k on them and 2/3+ of the tread left...
and I wheel them....they have thick sidewalls ( I have a gash/ thumb size flap on the sidewall and still wheel them) and have even impressed me off road on some rocky terrain....(hence the gash)
I'd go with the ltx m/s

I have decided to get the Michelin LTX M/S2 tires. But, should I get the LT275/65R18 or the P275/65R18's? The LT is meant for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck with a payload whereas the P series is designed for an SUV according to Tire Rack. Thanks!

Just got my 2nd set of LTX M/S 2's on my 01 4Runner LTD. My last set lasted 60K. They were on special making the decision pretty easy. Highly recommended !

The P series will work just fine

I was going to suggest my Firestone Destination AT's, which score quite high on tirerack surveys. Then I saw where you said you don't do offroad so it was back to the michelins. But the second place tire (MT2's are #1) the Firestone LE2's are $50 bucks cheaper per tire. It's hard to beat Michellins , but my "stones" are wearing very well and tromp all over the snow with ease. If the LE versions are as good (both #2 in their classes) the price difference would have me thinking. Actually they did, I bought the AT's last summer.

IIRC the factory tire is an Michelin LT, the 100 series is a pretty heavy vehicle with a load rating to match. In any case I like the feel of a truck tire in corners a lot better, less mushy.
