I have a stock SC setup on my 97, and I have a Scanguage II. When I get into if hard, the timing DROPS way down, like 7 or so. Anybody else seeing this?
You shouldn't. You are supposed to pull 1.5-2 degrees of timing for every pound of boost.
So if Landtank is getting 40 degrees advance at 4800 rpm then I should be seeing 28 degrees instead of 7 ??
I've modyfied my truck to avaiod the pull .I'm running 87 octane and am not worried about it
I would wait until summer temps before you make that claim. I have heard stock TRD setups rattle like a tin can filled with marbles in Texas summer heat on 87.
no, I claimed that I removed the timing pull. The timing pull, in this case, is a programmed response when the MAF voltage exceeds 3.90volts.
My reference to the 87 octane was that I have no detonation with this pull removed even with 87 octane.
And to the subject of this thread, our trucks run an AFR of 10:1 during boost and with this inherent timing pull I don't see any value in adding methanol injection even for added safety.
So, is this a kit that Joey is going to offer in the future??![]()
