Been lurking here for four years or so. Used to have an '08 FJ Cruiser but traded that out of necessity for a work vehicle three years ago.

Have teenage kids getting their drivers permits soon and was looking for a "kids" vehicle that was safe in case of a crash and ran across a 2000 LC at a local Toyota Dealer. A one owner vehicle but far far FAR from perfect. Got it on the cheap due to the carfax report and multiple dents, dings, scratches, rust, and needed repairs.

Had no idea how comfortable these things are!!! Amazing!!!

I have a pretty good service record history with it, not complete though as it was given to the PO's kids to drive at college for many years, at which point the care of it went way down, but I do have records of recent things replaced such as alternator, starter, idler pully, serpentine belt, etc... also found records of most major service done on all systems at 90K miles (t belt and water pump) and 135K miles(all possible oils and fluids changed). Now at 194K miles.

No tears in the interior but needs lots of little puddly things like random light bulbs, hood and lift gate struts, etc. CD stuck in the 6 disc changer I can't get out - typical old age stuff.

Pretty darn happy with it for the price. Only REAL issue is a poorly replaced windshield a long time ago has caused some nasty rust on the drive side a pillar. Much worse than I thought after removing trim and such after purchase. Might be the cause of water on the floor boards. When I bought it the floors were wet so I just assumed the sunroof drainage tubes were disconnected and/or plugged, so had the dealer inspect and clean those out as part of the deal. Now I'm thinking the rust may be the issue, I hope not. Maybe fix, maybe won't. Just a kids car for now...

My only real future worry is reading about this super expensive brake accumulator master cylinder thing we have. Mine works now, but when it goes out I'm not good for fixing myself. Got some physical health challenges that prevent that.

Anyhow, happy to be here now with an actual LC!

If you can’t get the cd changer to work or get the cd out, I have a cd unit from a 98 that works just fine. Let me know and enjoy the rig!

Just about got her on the road after a bunch of repairs. While I was getting ready to replace the muffler (last thing on my list) I see green oil dripping from air conditioning lines above. Now everything is on hold...

Rear air lines. Its winter in most states. Worry come spring. Enjoy the rig

Problem is I need a new muffler now. Looks like the leak can only be reached by removing the muffler, so if I install a new one now I’ll just have to cut it out in spring? Idk. I just want to drive this! Soooooo comfortable!

Oh I see what you mean. I grabbed one from rockauto. Was like $140 shipped. Even came with the bracket for the balancer weight. Weird start up noise when cold but does the job

Well, pretty bummed about my rear AC. Too many broken AC line segments to affordably fix. Had to have my repair shop cap off the rear air system and recharge the remainder of the system.

I was excited it all worked when I bought it, but apparently the dealer had just recharged the system and I never saw the leaks on my limited inspection before purchase.

Got everything else I needed done such as new muffler, replaced miscellaneous exterior light bulbs, new fog light assemblies, new PCV valve, snugged up valve cover bolts, new wiper blades, new spare ignition key, paper OEM owners manual from eBay, new OEM hood lift struts from eBay @ 75% discount, new driver floor mat, new steering wheel cover, fluid filmed the frame and under body, checked all fluids, etc.

Kinda tired out for now. Next is to replace my bent antenna mast and start changing the drive train oils.

Think I spent $800 this week between repair shop and all my do it myself parts. Probably a pretty good low amount. Don't know. Just tired, but man oh man are the comfy seats worth it.

how much the muffler costed? my muffler (center piece) has a leak and was told by my specialist to have it replaced, mine is lx ('00) so thinking how much it would cost to replace the center part and how difficult to DIY?
