Mechanic help, Reno NV, HZJ75 not going into gear.

I’m on a road trip and made it to Reno Nevada last night. My Troopy was not going into 5th for the last 1.5hrs of the drive and had difficulty going into 1st or 2nd once off the highway.

Does anyone have any mechanic recommendations around Reno? Thanks in advance.

There is a little sleave at 5th gear that fails. If this is the case full rebuild needed.( this is only a guess.) The sleave was made stronger in later years, can't remember when though.

Sheeit, I’m sorry to hear about the truck.

I’m in Reno, but don’t know of any mechanics who out-step the rest.

Sierra car care on 7th is a more old school-sequel shop. Probably has no experience on 70 series landcruisers, but they’re generally honest folk in my experience.

I’m happy to lend a hand and tools if you need it.

Is this an H55F? Sucks to hear. I don't think there is a good shop in town that would know a HZJ75 from a stapler. Most of us do our own work in these parts.
