How many miles are on the replacement motor though? 129k is cool but that is not this motor. The swap being done by Tor is a big plus. :)
Yep Torfab work is a good sign.

If you've ever wondered about resto costs, this TLC invoice on the above mentioned FJ62 will help clarify.

Imagine racking up a $21,000 bill?
And still needing a $5,000 engine replacement (quite reasonable) from TorFab?
Sure does add up fast!

$25k for a restoration is peanuts.

"Spendy Fixes" may be a better term than Resto for this one...bidders certainly didn't feel is was a resto.

Body and frame matching VIN's is pretty important on a high value truck. If they don't match it implies some pretty heavy repairs, possibly hard collision and/or rust. Or title/VIN fraud.

For the engine, I'd say its all in the quality of the replacement or swap. That will be evident with a visual inspection. Is it still stock with the smog system?

For a low value truck; its all about rust and quality of repairs and mods over time. There's a lot of Bubba junk out there built by good intended but incompetent 'mechanics'.

OOF. I don't have receipts for all the parts I've put into my 60 but his truck would be a hard pill for me to swallow as a financial transaction.

I am very curious about the matching VIN numbers for import reasons. I looked at an fj62 high top today in Bogota Colombia and the vins did not match from the frame to the engine compartment.

where on the frame is that set of numbers you posted?
it doesn't look like the factory position, or at least the ones here in the US, the stamping is too high on the frame, they should be in the middle of frame rail.
the numbers aren't factory font either

Passenger side near the front tire. Turned out to be a very sketchy restore 😅

The numbers matching thing with any car i feel like just depends on the intended use. If youre going to garage keep it and keep it as a collector weekend car, then yeah the numbers matching would be more important. If its going to be a driver, or a vehicle youre going to use for offroad use its not worth the extra money. Same thing with classic muscle cars. If you are looking for a full restoration yeah numbers matching will bring you the biggest value for your "investment" but if youre going to throw a hot cam and posi trac in it and full send it then the money would be better spent on a motor. Just depends on use imo. @60Works has a great point about the body and frame matching though

There’s some great items on those TLC invoice pages. $180 labour to swap the horns. LMAO.
how about $380 per steel wheel?!? wtf?
