Hey guys. If you have followed the "Cheap Bumper" thread then you may know we got a hold on a fj60 and started playing with some bumper designs. Based on some customer feed back we have made a few changes to the designs and we felt it was better to start a new thread to see what (if any) interest there would be in a tube bumper from us. I don't have any pricing yet, we need to get a little bit of a "concrete" design down before we can figure out a estimated cost. These are bumpers are only tacked to gather and the brackets are not the finished style, its just mocked up to show the over all design. For the front bumper we plan to offer them for the 8274 and the standard low profile winches. Any ideas you may have about improve them feel free to voice them. We want to offer a product that the customer wants.

Looks good!

You may want to see if you can get a 62 and a different 60 for the mock up. A lot of 60's have the headlight washer spigots below the headlights. It looks like the bumper might be a little close for that. Also the 62's mount the turn signal below the headlight and it looks like the middle cross bar might totally block it out.

The rear bumper kinda blocks the side marker lights.

Not trying to be a dick but since it is in mock up right now, now is the time for changes.

I like the rear, but I wouldn't want that stinger so tall and up close to the grille. I would want it to come just above the TOYOTA and then back down into that single piece cross bar somewhere around the compound bend. But that is just what I would want.

Dan is spot on regarding the front turn signals being blocked on a 62. Hitting the headlight washers on a 60 are only a maybe, from my perspective. Both something worth checking into, before taking orders.

I dont know what it is, but tube bumpers are fugly no matter how much work goes into them. Nice job on the rear though, thats the best rear tube design Ive seen yet. I bet you sell a ton of those if the price is right.

We never even discussed the headlight washers, good point. We lowered the side wrap from the previous style, our thought was to try to protect the side marker but still be able to service it. We can lower it a little more.

I posted 2 different pics show different recommendations for the rear bumper. One side has a longer wrap and a forward slop on the upright tube. The other shows a shorter side wrap and a straight up right tube. We also kicked the upper main tube out a little more then the previous location from the "cheap bumper" thread.

Nice!!!!

Pics of the El Camino please.......................:grinpimp:

What? You want photos of the mini-van?

Really...I'd really like to see the stinger gone, but have the tubing follow the front grille line. KISS theory if ya know what I mean. Just seems too complicated for these rigs.

Well, since you asked . . .

I really like the overall design of what I see in your photos. However, I concur with both D’Animal and Wilie E.’s comments regarding making sure that the tubes clear the headlight washers on the 60. Also, I’d like the final design of both the front and rear bumpers to have welded in tabs to mount clevis shackles and pick up points for Hi-Lift jacks. Inasmuch as the majority of us have accessory lights of some sort, the front needs to have locations where you could mount your lights.

I realize that you are currently just in the mock-up/prototype stage, but do you have any “guestimate” of when you might have some sort of finalized version ready for sale to the public? (Winter 08’, Summer 08’?) I’m undecided on whether I should order a similar style of tube bumper for my 60 from a fabricator, or if I should just wait until Marlin comes out with their finalized version of 60 front and rear bumpers.

Clevis points are a must, we have talked about lights but forgot about hi-lift options. I hope that we can see a finished bumper before the end on the year. We are working on this project in between production runs of the PU/4rnr bumpers so that causes a little delay.

That one of Jason's rigs?

I like the front bumper design but without the stinger.

Rear I am not a big fan of the side protection..

Seems like a frenzy of tube bumpers are being built lately....
