I'm in the process of having my 45 rebuilt and thinking about adding marker lights to the bed and maybe one or two near the front.

The bed has 4 equally spaced holes that would be perfect for adding some marker lights. If I do it, I'm also thinking about adding one or two near the 'Land Cruiser' emblem's on both sides.

I would not get lights that are too bright, but something that would still help give the 45 better visibility (from other drivers) while cruising the highway at night. I thought they would be especially beneficial if in heavy traffic and/or setting up my gear in a crowded camp ground at night...

Looking at getting the Truck-Lite 36 series if I do this. They are 1.5 inches long and .75 inches tall. I also like the fact that they kind of have a smoked lease look to them.

What do you think?

Why not put the oem style on back rear corner?

If you install them that high on the bed side where will your wires run and how will you hide/guard them?

I thought about that but figured since the holes are already in the bed, why not just put several lights back there?

The wires would be inserted into loom and run along the bottom of the bed wall towards the cab; then down through a small hole in the bed to the frame etc.

Truck lite has some that have a wider viewing area as well. Can be seen from bigger/wider angle.

Not sure you could make it look clean running wiring inside the bed. Would also pretty much make it a show truck. Load it with anything and worrying about damaging the wiring. You also end cutting a larger hole that will be harder to address if you don't like them. Surface mounted lights not requiring a larger hole look tacking. Lights in the front are easy. 70 thru 74 FJ 40s had amber clearance lights using that style emblem. Just source a pair of those aprons with the lights still there. Personally that's what I would do will just the correct clearance light in the bed.

Thanks all for the feedback.
