There are no titles nor registrations for these trucks. If any are sold as complete trucks, they will be sold as parts only and for off road use only.

Like I said, they were bought for parts. We were lucky enough to acquire 1 or maybe 2 that could be restored for off road use only. The rest of the parts will live on in other Cruisers.

Good to be upfront about it;)

Get em all on the road:) The more cruisers the merrier!

So, I guess when the 1HZ's are toast they put the cummins in them?? Interesting. What kind of mine - corrosive?

Nice to see more civilians getting the mining trucks.

Chop a 60 series into a pick up. Way cooler ;) A 84-90 FJ75 is virtually the same underneath to a FJ60 (in oz)

Saw a 60 ute on the beach converted by the owner who was a qualified panel beater/spraypainter and it was beautiful, alas no camera.

That sounds great, but my dream is to build something like lshobie's rig. The plan would be to title it as a 40 or 60...

The biggest problems with the HZJ79 is that just about everything is different on it as compared to the HZJ75 - which has many common parts to other 70 series. The front and rear ends are completly different than all the other 7X series, so you have to use 5 lug pattern rims and brake/hub parts. But that being said you also end up with a huge set of brakes that are just about the same as the tundra. My brakes never fadse over a day of wheeling - but every other cruiser I have owned did. The rear axles are also huge as well as the birfs.

Lots of other s*** is different but I won't bore y'all. If you have the time and money then buy these trucks and get them going - you won't regret it. If you have a 6 thousand dollar budget and a hammer don't bother.

I love the pick ups!

unless you have a shop full of cruiser parts and an open check book i would not look at putting these on the road legally...
for an off road rig they would be a great deal, you do not want pretty for bouncing off the trees anyway...

Out of all the mine trucks that I have seen, the best ones came from the Sullivan mine from Kimberly. A warehoue of parts where available with the trucks. A deal of the century.

Were they the trucks that ended up here in Ottawa? Same type of deal - although the guys were dumbasses and turned down the parts. I have bought out mine companies in the past - lots of good stuff and lots of boat anchors. I just missed a bunch of stuff - tons of stuff, but the guys flooded the mine and left everything in it - i nearly s*** myself when I heard that.

Yep, Proffitt's are great people, and I am glad the spelled out the rules for everyone. The mines here in the US like everywhere else rely on Land Cruisers to really do the job. The government allows companies to bring in this non legal trucks to be used by the mines for the mines only and when the are done with them they must destroy them or other wise show that they are not being put on the roads. Typically the companies that sell the mine trucks take back the old ones (and usually don't give them much and sometimes even charge to take them away). Obviously one mine has realized (or company) that Cruiser head would love to have these even it is only the parts.

The rule is pretty specific about them being destroyed so if someone were to make an off road truck out of it, please keep in on the DL.

Why do I know so much about this, well I did research on it a few years back when I was looking to get a pickup, I could never strike a deal like Proffitt's did  but I do get a small but steady stream of parts customers from a few mines :)

So here is the shameless plug for West Coast Cruisers, so if more of these find there way into Cruiser owners hands I would be more than happy to bring more parts for them into the country to sell :D

Cheers,

Michael
