Manual T-Case 4wd Mod / Diff Lock Button and Motor Delete

Had a couple people ask me about my manual t-case mod posted on the 80 series registry, finally found the pics and thought I'd post them here. This mod is obviously not for everyone, I prefer simplicity and reliability over all else.

Emptied out the electric motor components, then removed the spur gear assembly. Welded a 7mm socket to it.

Drilled top cap, doesn't look it in the pic but it's a very tight fit, used lube to squeeze it in

The entry point in the floor is only a couple inches from the case. I marked the floor with a punch, then went up top and drilled the floor. Made the hole slightly bigger and inserted a rubber grommet. It never fails now and the 4WD light still works when it engages. I can ratchet it out of 4WD at 60 km/h or so.

At least drill the hole in your floor and put the ratchet in there for looks!
Yeah like why not just use a bent steel rod or something other than a RATCHET

Oh I'm guessing because it requires more turning than a bent rod would allow so the ratchet allows ratcheting.
