I’m going to be installing a part time kit soon. The crux is this… I’m also regearing at the same time. I’d like to break the front gears in with the back as I tow off road and don’t want to put undo stress on the front without a proper break in.
I also want to avoid tearing the front axle apart again to install shorter Birfields. Is there anything that would cause issues if I run the manual hubs locked until I can get to the transfer case?
Sounds asinine I know, but I appreciate the info.
 
Thanks. Takes a load off my mind. I’m looking at a back surgery at the end of the month as well, but the front pinion is about toast, so that part really cannot wait.
I keep mine locked pretty much all winter, it should work like the drive flanges you have now. I wouldn’t worry!
