Making a roof basket tire mount. (1 Viewer)

Anyone ever made one before? Im lookin to move my tire to the top for more clearance. Im open for ideas. Im talking about a secure mount thats going to keep the tire locked onto this roof basket.

Here is what mine looks like (just sold it). May give you some idea.

The "J" hooks onto the plate. The rest of the assy spins to tighten. In the second pic, you see a small bracket with a hole. This is for a lock.

Did you fabricate the hook assy and mount plate?

I like the use of the Adel clamps for mounting the base.

You may look around at some of the J**p sites. The guys with XJ and ZJ's tend to come up with a mount setup for their light duty roof racks.
