Does anyone know what the factory material is for the main/rod bearings?
There are 2 types that I see available for the aftermarket.
aluminum bi metal = harder or
Tricompound
I think by the looks of the crank bearings that they are bi-metal like the clevite A series that they sell on rockauto. I’m debating on getting the king tri-metal.
has anyone had good/bad experience with either?

Why not go OEM? Are they discontinued?

Clevite A class/aluminum bimetal is what Chevy has used in the last 20 years on their blocks. Seems to be a good bimetal choice as I think the OEM are the same.

this is an almost 30 year bearing. Still looks good. But the materials they used back then aren’t the same as what Toyota has in stock new. IMHO.

clevite standard bearings. Still in spec. .017-.019 inches. Man these cranks don’t wear and still looks good.
