Hi all,

A few months ago I purchased a 2011 LX570 and have driven it perhaps 1,000 miles. This forum has been a great resource and thanks in advance for reading this.

I recently noticed that when I drive at above 15-20 mph and make any sort of left or right turn, even when it's slight, there is a hard to describe squirting/rubbing noise that seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I do not believe that it was there when I first purchased the vehicle and took it to a nearby Lexus dealer for a quick inspection.

I have linked here two audio recordings (it is a little faint despite my best efforts to record - may need headphones to hear). Any thoughts on what this is or if it is normal? I am still pretty new to the vehicle and its various noises such as the AHC adjustments, so would really appreciate your perspective.

Thank you.

Can't hear it or better don't know what to listen for with all the noises. Maybe if you point at the exact time in the clips?

Some ideas...
Are you sure it's from the back? Also the truck "back" is a lot of space. Can you have a helper ride in there and move around to better pinpoint the location? Or better someone else drive and you go diagnose. Is it from left/right? Does it change sides when turning left or right?
Does it change with speed when you go faster than just 20mph?
Does it change with the size of the turn/angle of the steering?

Thanks for your reply Doru.

Yes, I should have pointed it out - it's a higher pitched whirring noise (sorry, don't know how to describe it exactly):
  • Trimmed Clip 7: 0:04-0:06
  • Trimmed Clip 11: 0:00 -0:03
Will look into having someone ride in back and pinpoint the location.

Confirmed it changes by getting louder with the intensity/angle of the turn and the speed.

Silicone Dielectric Tune Up Grease for Electrical Connections will cure the noise if its from the steering column, does it sound like it's due to rubbing or running?

Slightly bent backing plate? Heat shield rubbing on tire/exhaust? Warped rotor or sticking caliper

I dunno. Just throwing ideas at the wall

Can't get at the sound clips.

Could be rear bearings as well.
