Hello,

I have a passenger side floor leak go on a month now. The floor board fills up with water after a rain or a wash..... Puddles to front outer kick panel area at front of door at footwell area..

Trouble shooting:

1). Checked hood cowl area by wipers: removed it all cleaned it up. Nothing there. Put it back together.

2). Checked all passenger side door seals...intact! No tears or smoking guns.

3).Checked sunroof after extensive panel removal.......rt front drain tube intact and patent. Torn off more paneling , a pillar, no leaks hose was tight at upper connection.

4. Windshield check.....couldn't figure out any thing special.....wasn't sure what I was doing. I figure it was a botched job, but all was sealed up to my inspection.

5). Did do Mud search.....all pointed toward. Sunroof drains...

Hmmmmm....

After all the tear out panels on the truck I closed it up and hosed her down...and inspected.

Found the leak!!!! Kind of....
Noted Rt passenger side kick panel area with leaking above the computer brains up in a closed channel portion behind the fire wall where the door bolts to the frame.

Seems to be leaking down or around the lower portion of the sunroof drain inside the kick panel area.

The odd part is I can see everything except in the closed channel area about of ~ 1.5 feet......no leaks at the windshield bottom..(top hose area below windshield). I can clearly see the tube there just before entering the channel.

Something is happening in the mystery zone of that 1.5 feet...

I'm concerned of a busted or cracked hose b/c no water at the top under the windshield, but there's water leaking about at the above the distal end of the hose....

Water runs freely through hose and out of the channels in the front frame.

Possible another hose connection that may be loose in the mystery zone?

Some wierd missing bolt allowing water entry?

Wonder what I'm missing???

Should I just gut the entire hose and replace it?

Reseat the windshield?

I see cussable moments ahead with that endeavor....

Any insight appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd H.

Thanks....sand road

Confirms there is no natural splice in the tubing.......possible leak or crack suspected.....gonna pull it to make sure...

Next up is front window reinstall.....yeah I got a guy.

I'll repost once I got the hose out....

Still looking for now.

Thanks..

Pulled the hose up and back down....no other connections.

No leaks, kinks, or perforations.....
Back to the windshield.....

Any more ideas?

I am having a similar issue with the driver side so I am interested to see what you can find out. I haven't had a chance to get into it yet it just stared last week.

Any rust bubbles forming around the windshield? Sometimes you can actually push up on the windshield with your hand and see the glass coming away from the frame.

If you take a garden hose (no spray nozzle) and pour water around the windshield, starting from the bottom of the windshield and slowly working your way up, you can better spot the leak. Removing the #3 (outside trim) prior will help pinpoint the leak even more.

I was just reading that there are two rivets that are often left out when the windshield is replaced... I believe they are located under the outside trim (see the diagram above). Water can just run through those holes. If thats the case, throw some sealant in there and button it all back up.

I have a suspicion this is the cause of my brothers leaking 100 also. (Mines leaking from the sunroof hahaha)

I had this issue and it was coming in via the door then through the speaker grill then to the floor... I cleaned the the glass wiper seal BUT at the same time I sealed all the penetration points from the stock roof rack mounting points... I have no idea what fixed it just that it did....

I just learned about this issue today from the dealership. There was an aftermarket windshield installed by the previous owner, and I found out the seal was slowly letting water into the driver's side junction block. I guess going to a third-party glass repair shop is a no no for 100 series. The service manager informed me third parties' can forget some rivets or something, compromising the seal. Yesterday, my hazards were always on, and the security light was a constant red. Dealer wants just north of $2000 to replace the entire block. I'm hoping that extended warranty comes in handy!

I guess the silver lining is I get to roll around in a brand new GX, while I wait for the dealer to see if it's covered?

I am having a similar problem with my 1999 100. The windshield was replaced maybe 6 years ago. The past couple of years I have noticed damp carpet on the front passenger side just at carpet immediately at the right-front corner of the passenger seat. I just checked the sunroof drains. I poured about 30 oz of water into the right and 30 oz also into the left side opened sunroof weeping channels with a turkey baster. The water drained inelegantly but without complication to the outside through the lower rocker panels. I also had the windshield resealed, sort of, at the repair shop. There is a small amount of dampness on the carpet, which is less than before. Also, I am worried that this problem may be related to my horn going off whenever it rains-- non-stop. i had to remove the horn relay. Any ideas?

G'day, I have a 2004 100 series Aussie landcruiser Sahara and have had issues with electronics such as gauges dropping out , electric windows failing etc etc. Have only had it a year but had noticed a couple of times during and after heavy rain ( doesn't happen often in Perth) that I was getting drips onto my accelerator foot while driving (RHS). Had suspected that water had been dripping onto fuses and wiring and had that confirmed a couple of days ago by my auto electrician who said that there was alot of green corrosion on the back of the fuse box. He sprayed everything with contact cleaner and everything is now working. I suspected windscreen leakage and had that changed at the auto sparky's under his supervision to ensure there was no rust or water ingress behind the old factory fitted windscreen...all good there. The windscreen guy suggested it may be the sunroof and I checked the drainholes and all good there. Draining away fine. Then I was wondering what would happen if the sunroof gutter overflowed as in an uphill situation of if there was excessive water ingress that the drain holes couldn't cope with. I can see that if water builds up or flows backwards under acceleration or by going uphill it would spill towards the rear, over the gutter and into the gap betwen the gutter and the roof lining. I squirted a few drops into that gap and sure enough, the paper towels I had placed on the floor around the accelerator pedal were drenched. I'm going to experiment by using some kind of seal or silicone combination to build up the height of the gutter so that the water cannot spill into the gap I described. Hopefully I'll have some time to experiment this weekend.

My money is that it is either (1) bad windshield seals. Get shop compressor and do soapy water test. (2) sunroof drain leaking. When cabin is dry poor lots of water into the drain holes and see if it leaks more. Then replace hoses if necessary.

Todd, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I'm having the same issue but on the drivers side. Sunroof drains seem completely clear (can see the hose clear down to where it dumps into rocker panel and water drains quickly) but after a good pour, the drivers side carpet is wet. Appears to be just the middle of the carpet (opposed to the sides) and may be coming in from the firewall or transmission tunnel....next step for me is to tear off the windshield cowl/louver and see if there are clogged drains there.

Windshield looks OEM though hard to really tell. Says Toyota Lamisafe.

I am on my 3rd LX470 and all of them have leaked at the driver's floor. I've checked the sunroof, cowling, new windshield, but every time it rains, the floor pan is soaked. Yes, always towards the center of the floor area. I suspect it comes in from the edges and the center, being the lowest point, is where it collects. Getting to be a real pain to always have to deal with this every time it rains.

On my 100 the welded area that joins the firewall and the side panel was the source of my leak. When water is poured into the drain hole it trickles down this area and water gets in. A little sand paper and silicone fixed it for me. This was a frustrating leak. Hopefully this helps someone in the future. One 🍌 job. Just remover the mud guard and it’s easily visible.

I'm having a hard time trying to picture where that is. Can you point to where those wells are roughly from the outside? Any idea what cable is that?

It’s located under the fender under the passenger side wheel well. That cable is for the radio power antenna.
